Quebec bill would fine new doctors up to $200K per day for leaving public systemCBC News
The Legault government will require Quebec-trained doctors, both general practitioners and specialists, to work in the public health-care system for the first five years of their careers, under threat of stiff fines.
A bill to this effect was introduced at the National Assembly Tuesday afternoon by Health Minister Christian Dubé. It will be studied in 2025.

TTC bans e-bikes, e-scooters aboard vehicles during winter months - TorontoGlobalnews.ca
On Tuesday, the TTC’s Board of Commissioners voted in favour of banning e-bikes and other micromobility devices which use lithium-ion batteries during winter months over the fire risk.
The board made the move despite acknowledging that it will disproportionately affect lower-income gig workers and enforcing the new rules will be difficult to do so.

Quebec premier says he wants to stop people from praying in public | CBC News
Quebec Premier François Legault said Friday afternoon that he wants to ban praying in public and that he was considering using the notwithstanding clause to do so.
The premier was giving an overview of the past year in Quebec City before lawmakers break until January when he made the announcement. He said he had instructed his team to look into ways to put the ban in place.
“Seeing people praying in the streets, in public parks, is not something we want in Quebec,” Legault said.

Canada to open consulates, appoint Arctic ambassador under new foreign policyCBC News
Canada will open consulates in Alaska and Greenland, appoint an Arctic ambassador and continue its boundary negotiations with the United States over the Beaufort Sea.

Homeless trans woman in Alberta, Canada, looking for support, work, and housing
Evie (@wolfgirlsister) has been homeless for over a month now, and lost her job two and a half months ago. Despite doing everything she can to find work and long-term housing, the waitlists for resources and jobs in their area are still very long. They don’t have anyone else in their area that can help.

Manitoba impaired-driving bill introduced as tensions rise at the legislature - WinnipegGlobalnews.ca
The Manitoba government is looking to bring in tougher penalties for people who are convicted of impaired driving offences that cause injury or death.
A bill introduced in the legislature Thursday would impose a lifetime licence suspension on a driver convicted of two such offences within a 10-year period.
That’s an increase from the current 10-year suspension.
