Why An Online Yoga Class Actually Works!
The Yoga Mile

I had never earlier taken it seriously until now! Until online yoga classes became a necessity due to lockdown in India that is. I came to know about online yoga classes way back in the second half of 2017, just after earning my 900 Hours TTC. But there was some inertia in getting started with it. I had the very same laptop and technical infrastructure as I use today for conducting online yoga classes. And maybe I even had yoga clothes that would have looked much better on the webcam! (Soon pregnancy, baby care, and breastfeeding started dictating my clothing choices:)). But, I had very little ..read more

Throwback to the year that was. A year of bold choices. A year that unmade me. And one that made me. What started with a single post on Facebook and two students in an establishment tucked away in the rather silent and welcoming surroundings of Lake Vihar, became an important part of my professional identity very soon. I had left my job, completed my 2 year teacher’s training and was excited to go all out. And I did. Soon I was conducting these classical yoga classes in Raheja Vihar, Chandivali thrice a week in the evenings. And as intended, it had become a cosy choice for many residents ..read more

When they chopped off the cord and separated the baby, all I could think of was – finally, it’s out! The episiotomy tears were being stitched, the staff was scurrying all around me to clean up the blood from the labor room, the baby’s crying had stopped, was it she or he, I didn’t know, it didn’t matter. I was losing patience. Instinctively I wanted to be with the baby, wanted to make sure all was fine, was yearning to take charge. I was shouting at the staff. How much longer? It seemed like an eternity before I was cleaned and shifted to the patient room with my baby. Finally she was in my ar ..read more

About 3 years back when I got married and started setting up my kitchen in a health-conscious manner, I was in a dilemma. I wondered if this is just a passing fad in me or is there something more to it. I also asked myself, if I was on my way to making life more complicated. But, 3 years have passed, and now I wonder how I had been living for so long with my old habits as a bachelor. Here are some of the things that started as a conscious decision and have become second nature to my kitchen. Take a look and see if there’s something you would like to adopt too. 1. REPLACE YOUR NON-STICK TEFLON ..read more

The new year week is not yet over, and you may be thinking what an unfitting thought at this time! Well, yes, there’s been death on my mind lately, and it has been transforming the very quality of my life. So, I thought, why not share with you all, what a joyful thing it is, to have death on one’s mind. It is said, that when we fall in love, we become joyful. When we give birth to a new born, we become joyful. And, when we visit a crematory, then too our perspective towards life changes only for the better. Why so? What’s common among falling in love, birthing a baby and watching a lifeless bo ..read more

Back to the Indian squat toilet, for the sake of our health!
The Yoga Mile

Wherever we go these days, be it hospitals or cafes, hotels or cinemas, even in our flats, it has become rarer and rarer to find the simple Indian toilet which was so ubiquitous in my childhood. With rising income levels and fascination with the foreign lifestyle, we have ended up flushing common sense and “renovated” our bathrooms with the worst thing for generations to come – the English toilet seat. Constipation, hemorrhoids and all the consequent health problems of lethargy, bad nutrient absorption, hard bloating bellies, auto-intoxication and what not, follows because of one simple reason ..read more
