Murals have been painted in Chelmsford as part of the Concrete Canvas festival. Dotted around the centre of the town, they add to street art already painted the year before.
This year several more locations received artworks. They included some major international names such as Thailand’s Alex Face and the American artist Shephard Fairey. Both were joined by the likes of D*FACE and My Dog Sighs, themselves some of the UK’s biggest street art stars.

Exhale is a street art project by SNIK which spans the remote Norwegian Island of Utsira with the mainland city of Stavanger. Four murals were painted over ten days with three on the small island itself.
SNIK are an duo from Stamford in England known for their expansive and detailed stencil art. Often utilising a number of layers, each one will be intricately cut by hand. Each mural they create can easily take weeks if not months in the preparation and that’s just in the cutting out.

Perceived Notions
His latest work at Værnes Airport in Trondheim perhaps goes against some of the perceived notions about what street art is. “We wanted to play with those preconceived ideas a little” explained Martyn Reed, the Director of Nuart. “These types of projects give us the opportunity to show street art, in all ..read more

Mr Doodle is an artist who knows Ashford well. It’s his home town or at least it’s the nearest home town to where he lives. Now, riding high on the side of Edinburgh Road car park, it’s the biggest artwork he’s ever created in the town.
Part of the Ashford Unframed festival Mr Doodle wanted to re-create one of his doodle sketchbook pages on a wall. Constantly doodling, he has notebooks full of doodles so what would one of those look like painted huge on the side of an old car park.
