Rae made this lovely throw from her stash pile with, I think, a free pattern. It is just lovely.  Rae used a white fireside backing or this beauty and quilter's dream batting. We chose Mimosa for the panto and I think it looks just great!  Oh, Rudy Frazzle Fraz!   ~Sheri  ..read more

Merry Christmas

Sandra sent me these two lovely quilts one for each of her lovely daughters. They scream Merry Christmas! Simply clean white on front and back, the quilts have a bit of a modern feel to them while still being completely traditional.  I used the large quirky panto on this quilt and it is quickly becoming one of my favorites.  This second quilt is as lovely as the first. For this quilt, I used small quirky. Quilter's dream blend batting (of course) and a bright white So Fine thread on top and bottom. I've had an incredibly busy fall and that will carry on into the w ..read more

Rae brought me these two sweet seasonal wall hangings. I loved quilting them up for her!  The first is a sweet and spooky Hallowween throw. I love the bats and pumpkins. She made the quilt all from pieces in her stash with a free pattern. Can't beat that!  There was so much going on that I didn't want the quilting to compete too much with the piecing. I chose the 'spring fling' panto really to get the sandwich together. It added a sweet bit of whimsy I think.  The second is more Christmasy in nature. The throw was made again with a free pattern and a layer cake. I us ..read more

I've been a bit MIA this summer with my blog and have some catching up to do!  We're hoping to have the stinkiest year of our lives behind us and on to brighter days with lots of fun. Nothing makes me happier than being holed up at home in my old grey sweat pants sewing away. I had flip flopped last year about selling my longarm but I do enjoy it so much. Lucey is with me until the end!  Sandra brought me a couple of sweet quilts this summer ... the one above and this one below were made with similar lines from Bonnie and Camille. They just made my heart sing to quilt for her. I c ..read more

These two! Oh, my heart .....  I share a picture of my 'twins' and show you Dallas's 'twins' .... Dallas brings me the most unique tops to quilt. Quilts that make me want to run out and buy the pattern. She always walks them over, drops them off and lets me play. "Just put it together," she says. Yay.  She brought me two nearly identical baby quilts - the same but slightly different in color schemes. I chose a silver grey cuddle for one and dug out my dark teal cuddle from my personal stash for the other. What can I say, it just called for it.  I used the 'echo blosso ..read more

Cotton & Steel Block Swap

I took my little partner down to the Creekside park this week to get some nice quilt photos. I'm amazed everyday at how Darby is growing and transforming into a real little lady. She was very insistent I not help her on the wiggly beams and I was not to catch her on the slide. Well then. She thinks she is a real hot banana riding her new purple bike with training wheels and declaring that she is indeed, "a big girl!"  I crossed off another UFO from my bucket list recently. I have been sitting on these Cotton & Steel blocks for about 3 years. They were so happy living together in a ..read more

I quilted this sweet little quilt for Rae this weekend. She has really been a good girl and has been sewing up her stash.  Rae wanted a warm cuddle for the backing and I had just enough light pink to make it work. The batting is Quilter's Dream blend and the thread So Fine in 401. I use 401 for about 80% of my quilts. It is the perfect go-to.  There was quite a bit of white space between the bunnies and Rae wanted a tighter panto. After showing her a few choices virtually, she chose Wave on Wave. It was the perfect fit.  Happy May long weekend. Maybe it will sn ..read more

Scrap Challenge

I sure had some fun creating outside the box this past month. A friend sent me a link this spring to a scrap challenge hosted by Quilter on Fire and Northcott Fabrics. You can check out the link here Quilter on Fire We paid $10 to receive an envelope of scraps. The envelope had to be kept secret until we met to reveal. We chose our own background fabric, with a catch. We had to choose before we opened the packages. Luckily I didn't get my package until just two days before we were set to open them so I wasn't tempted to peak!  This is my finished project- Sea Glass.  I ..read more

I love this quilt a little more every time I look at it.  The pattern is called Meadowland by 'Then Came June'. I bought myself a couple of fat quarter bundles for Christmas and set out to use them before they started to collect dust in my sewing room. This one is called 'Balboa' and I purchased it from Road 17 North in Winkler. I love that shop! Take my money, take it all! Follow here to the shop Instagram has been full of Meadowland quilts for the past while and I was eager to get on the bandwagon.  You can check her out here .... Then Came June June has a differe ..read more

Its April and we still have snow with a risk of more this week. I'd like to tell you that this is the reason that I finished this beauty. I'd be fibbing ... I started this strip around the world quilt in November of 2019 for Christmas, you know, the next month. It found its way into a box to that dark corner in our sewing rooms that none of can explain! Sigh ... I have been sewing so slow lately!  I get in stash busting spurts and this was part of one of those clean up sprees. I had the better part of a jelly roll left over from a project and had a few fat quarters kicking around. My fav ..read more
