Welcome back for Thank Goodness It's Finished Friday.  TGIFF is the opportunity to share your finish from this week.  You can find out who is hosting each week by heading over to the TGIFF blog. Unfortunately, we didn't have a host for this week.  So my good friend Dena agreed to showcase her finish from this week.  She does not have a blog, so I'll share her photos and her commentary. I started this mini in a Carolyn Friedlander workshop in Halifax at last year's Quilt Canada.  Carolyn encouraged us to use individual elements of her pattern to create our own la ..read more

Season 15 of Project Quilting -- hosted by Kim @ Persimon Dreams and Trish @ Quilt Chicken -- has come to an end.  There were weeks when I wasn't confident that I'd be able to make something, but I am pleased that I completed all six challenges this season. The final theme was Irish Chain.  I decided to make a drawstring bag, using my favourite pattern, Lined Drawstring Bag by In Color Order.  I made the Project Bag size.  However, troubles followed me from start to finish.  Firstly, I was making it mere hours before today's deadline. ? Did you enjoy sewing along with the Stay at Home Round Robin (SAHRR) hosted by Gail @ Quilting Gail?  It's time to link up your finished quilt (or quilt top). I used three solid fabrics:  Kona Nightfall, Torch, and White.  It finishes around 56 inches after quilting. I used a variety of free-motion quilting motifs with a light orange thread. I had planned to do some big stitch quilting elements in the centre, but I couldn't decide on a plan.  I can always add it later. You can see my weekly updates: Centre block Round 1 Round 2 Round 3 Round 4 Round 5 ..read more

Sherry @ Powered by Quilting is hosting a blog hop for her new signature Island Batik fabric line -- Romance Garden.  This is a great collection of pink, green, and purple fabrics. I made a baby quilt (48 x 48 inches) using a modified rail fence pattern to showcase the great prints. The colours are vibrant and bright. Head over to Sherry's blog post to enter the giveaway and to see all the bloggers participating in the blog hop. I keep the quilting simple -- an all-over loop motif using light green thread ..read more

2024 Stay at Home Round Robin - Round 6

It's the final round for the Stay at Home Round Robin (SAHRR) hosted by Gail @ Quilting Gail. Round 6 was chosen by Kathleen @ Kathleen McMusing -- letters and/or numbers. I added a 4-inch finished Kona Torch border, with Nightfall cornerstones.  I decided to take creative license, and my "letters" will be quilted into the border. I still have a wavy border, which made the top end up being 57.5 inches.  I gained 1.5 inches from the designed 56-inch quilt but managed to steam/quilt it flat. I had a quilting plan for the centre of the quilt, but didn't know ..read more

There are are only two more challenges for Season 15 of Project Quilting -- hosted by Kim @ Persimon Dreams and Trish @ Quilt Chicken. The fourth theme was:  Hourglass.  I used some Kona scraps to make 6-inch mug rugs, which will be used as plant coasters.  It looks like both of my orchids are going to bloom again very soon. This was another opportunity to practice free-motion quilting.  The stitches are not perfect, but the plants won't mind.  ..read more

There's just one more week for the Stay at Home Round Robin (SAHRR) hosted by Gail @ Quilting Gail. Round 5 was chosen by Gail @ Quilting Gail -- quilter's choice using 4.  The possibilities are endless - - 4 blocks, a 4-patch block, 4 colours. I added a 4-inch finished Kona Nightfall border. This is now measures 49.5 inches. I realized on the last round that my border was a bit wavy despite my efforts to carefully measure to ensure I was adding the right length of border.  I took extra time for this round as well, but I still ended up with a wavy border ..read more

I made two zippered pouches this week.  I love the Open Wide Zippered Pouch pattern by Noodlehead.  I used a mini charm pack from Ruby Star Society to piece the exterior. I made the yellow pouch for last week's Project Quilting. My nieces are visiting this weekend so I decided to make a second pouch to give as gifts. Now time to get a good night's sleep because we will be sledding tomorrow.  They have too much non-stop energy for this Auntie. I'm linking up with: Thank Goodness It's Finished Friday @ Quilting Gail Can I Get a Whoop Whoop? @ Confessions ..read more
