Ann made this pretty in pink Trip Around the World  variation quilt for her granddaughter. Ann chose the Divine pantograph which really matches the design in many of the prints she used in the quilt and I think it adds a nice delicate touch. Divine was a recent addition to my pantograph collection.  Here are the latest pantographs I have added.    I am always on the lookout for pattern that have nice even coverage but are not too dense as that is the preference of the majority of my clients.   ..read more

MPQ Mystery

Val made this quilt as part of a mystery quilt sew along offered through the Manitoba Prairie Quilters earlier this year.  The pattern was designed by one of the MPQ members - Kathy Paul. Val chose the Windswept pantograph.  I love the movement that it adds across the sharp lines of the piecing.  We used a charcoal grey thread that doesn't draw attention away the great piecing and beautiful colours of the fabric. Have you ever participated in a mystery quilt project?  I have done a few- some I’ve loved, some I’ve changed to make me happier.  It can be fun if yo ..read more

Bridy made this king size quilt using the Reading Nook collection by Sarah watts for Ruby Star.  The pattern is called Star Pop from Quilty Love. Bridy chose the Tickle pantograph which adds some nice movement over the whole quilt top.  Bridy treated herself to yards and yards of the multicolored Starry print for her backing, and I think it was worth the effort of tracking it down and piecing it! Bridy also worked hard to get all the directional prints headed the same way, which meant altering some of the cutting directions.  I was told at 106" wide, even with our ..read more

This is Marlene's Fado Road quilt.  She participated in the sew along hosted by Ships and Violins. Marlene is not afraid of tackling something with a lot of piecing!  This was a combination of traditional piecing and paper piecing. Marlene and I looked through a variety of pantographs and nothing was really jumping out as the right one until Marlene spotted the Velvet Queen pantograph.  Marlene's favorite flowers are sunflowers, so this design spoke to her.  I have had it in my collection awhile, but the right quilt hadn't come my way to use it until now. Marlene ..read more

Reneta made another set of Roundabout placemats, this time featuring some cute Puffin fabric.  Reneta requested an all over quilting pattern and she selected the Dragon's Breath pantograph.  The simple tone on tone black and white fabrics really make the puffin fabric pop!   The Roundabout pattern includes 2 tables runners and the placemats.  One of the runners and the placemats are easily customizable to the size that best fits your table.  It is available from Highway 10 Designs in either a paper copy or a PDF download ..read more

This is the second quilt that Cathy made with her grandson's hockey jerseys.  You can see the first one here.  This is quite a heavy quilt as it is big enough to cover my queen size bed and has a cozy plush backing as well. The Windswept pantograph was a hit on the first smaller quilt, so we repeated the design on the one. This is such a special memory that I'm sure will be treasured for many many years to come ..read more

Reneta made this darling baby quilt using the Kidding Around - Goats in Pajamas pattern from Art East Quilting Company.  Reneta made three blocks and adapted the layout to allow space for adding the baby's name. I love the cute flannel fabrics that Reneta chose for the goat's pajamas! Reneta requested my freehand all over woodgrain design for the quilting.  It is one of my favorite designs to quilt out and I think it looks good here ..read more

Reneta made this totally adorable otter quilt.  The pattern is from Art East Quilt Company and is called Cool Treats. It took a little while to come up with a quilting plan that we were both loving, and the end result was simple is best.  The wavy lines let the otters shine, so many designs we auditioned seemed to compete. I just love these otters and their ice cream cones!   ..read more

Reneta made this quilt for her daughter's wedding and I can finally share it now that the day has come.   The quilt pattern is called Mountainside by Lella Boutique and features the Smoke and Rust fabric collection.  McKenna and Cole had planned an intimate wedding in Jasper, Alberta so this quilt is extra fitting.  (Unfortunately due to the recent forest fires, they had to relocate their wedding, but it will still be taking place in the mountains.) I have quilted many many quilts for Reneta and we have done everything for a simple meander to complex undertakings like ..read more
