I have been quilting for over 20 years and have turned my passion for quilting into a home business. This blog is where I share photos of my quilts as well as my clients quilts. I have thrown in few personal stories about living on the shores of Schist Lake and now I'm ready to explore and share photos of the area around Emo, Ontario as life isn't all about quilting.

If you follow my Instagram you will know I'm obsessed with hummingbirds. These past two weeks I have been sharing videos of feeding them with a hand feeder and a few have landed on my hand. Pure joy! I fill my garden full of flowers that they love and I can spend all day just watching and taking photos of these tiny birds. Our summers are short and they will be migrating south soon so I'm enjoying my last couple of weeks with them.
I have this glass feeder I put in the maple tree that they love and guard furiously.
They also like to guard the ..read more

Summer has been flying by as usual here in NW Ontario. No sewing or quilting happening as I have been spending my days out in the garden or on the lakes kayaking. Also keeping busy with my favorite summer activity birdwatching and bird photography. I am enjoying the hummingbirds but we definitely have fewer birds this year. I also would go every Sunday from mid May to mid July to see the Herons in their rookery on the highway near our place. We watched all 15 nest activity transition from sitting on eggs to the hatching to the feeding then fledging ..read more

Marnie pieced this modern 'Mod Cabins' quilt, pattern by Quiltachusetts. It was a kit from McTavish Quilting in Duluth and uses Essex Linen with a Shot Cotton center block. I actually saw this one when I was at the Minnesota Quilt show a few weeks ago and was really drawn to all the kits on display at the vendor booths that used Essex linen. I didn't buy any but now can't stop thinking about a linen quilt being the next one I make for my bed.
I quilted it with the Taro pantograph, used a beige So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Gay made this King sized Misted Pines quilt for her daughter. I have also seen this pattern called Misty Pines by the same designer, Patti Carey, so not sure why the name change but here is the link to purchase the Misted Pines pattern. The fabrics are all Northcott's Stonehenge line.
The King size is 118" wide and 110" long so completely covers my Queen sized bed. I have to say this is the widest quilt I have quilted on my longarm! I used the London Fog pantograph, light grey So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Thought I would do an update on my bag making venture and the three spring markets I attended. In March I was a vendor at the Barwick Market and I was really impressed with the organizer and all the advertising she did for the event. Lots of traffic through and really good sales. I was actually surprised at how well my sale were for a March sale, it was better than a few of my Christmas markets. Here is what my table looked like. Its nice when they have 8 foot table, that is a question I make sure to asked at each event, helps with planning the layout.
