Double Halo is finally a flimsy and I couldn't wait to share it with you.
I rush to sew the skinny sashing and haste makes waste. The sashing did not align properly.
And not just once but all of them. Argh!
Eventually, I got it done before the long weekend was over.
Oh, My! The aqua block and the blue block are basically all the same colour. And the purple one is nothing but purple. Let's try in a sunny spot.
Yes, that's better. I love it so much. (The quilt is bumpy because the grass is long ... and wet.)
The centre star doesn't have the same fabric ..read more

I can continue to play with orange for another month and not get bored.
Unfortunately, it's the last week of the month. It's also the busiest week of the month at work which means my energy level was pretty flat by the time I got home. I didn't sew much but I still have a few things to show you.
These L&E blocks (Shallow Pond) get together every now and then. Look closely; Orange is there.
So far, they all have met my Super Seam Ripper. Maybe this weekend, I'll be able to sew a perfect one on the first try. Fingers crossed. :^D

The Orange month is almost over and I know I should be sewing like crazy to enjoy my favourite colour to the max but a very busy week at the office saw me too tired at night to enjoy my sewing room. I'll try to catch up during this weekend.
Anywho! This week, I have done this:
which is completely wrong. If you look at a Double Halo block there are no such units, so why the heck have I sewn these? I think Vacation is calling me.
Eventually, I managed to make it right and press it.
Ta-dah!!
And the usual 9-patch blocks.
But they aren't the only L ..read more

Most horrible week of my life! It started with me and a co-worker having a little "tiff". It's all good now but the supervisor got involved "because I was mean!" (?) Then, I thought I had lost my job because of a MAJOR mistake I made. I was told I had given the wrong key to the wrong new house buyer! It took 2 days to discover that it wasn't my mistake as the envelope I gave had the name of that new house buyer on it. Whoever put the keys in that envelope is the one to be blamed. But for more than 24 hours, I thought I would be fired!! I was so miserable. I couldn't look my team in the eyes be ..read more

My primary job these past weeks was Raven. He is doing a little better but still can't jump on the sofa or climb the stairs. He hates his meds, therefore he hates me.
Sewing was a welcome change whenever I still had the energy to sew. What got done? Let's see.
A light blue and a green-ish aqua Stained Glass block were assembled. Sunny morning makes big shadows.
Group photo of the 4 Stained Glass from June and July.
Do you see the "eyes" in the last block? I can't "unsee" them and I have a mind to remove that piece of fabric. Would you?

Not MY typical week either, but what a week it was. My week went to the cats. Even though my son celebrated his 28th birthday, Raven got all my attention.
But first, FABRIC.
Double Halo in Seafoam Green - done
Trimmed Blue and NOT trimmed Aqua crumb blocks
and the usual 9 Patch trio. OOOOhhhh! Dots!
And now the cat story.
Bright and early Tuesday morning, we had the visit of Rascal.
He came to the patio door, begging for food and love. Of course, I handed out both and plenty of it too. So he decided this place was cool and walked nonchalantly into the ..read more

Asks Logical Left Brain.
- I'm pondering - replies creative Right Brain.
- Pondering what?
- Whether or not I should do Bonnie's new Leader & Ender Challenge.
- Well that's an easy question. The answer is NO! There are too many little pieces! It will take forever. Besides, you're still doing bazillions of little 9-patch blocks. That's enough for L&E.
- Yeah, but Bonnie's is blue and green. I love blue and green quilts.
- So? You have so many quilts to finish and soooooooo many more you want to make, and now, you want to start another one just because of its colour?? Like, really ..read more

As it seems to be my habit lately, I am still playing with last month's colour but the transition has started.
I finished the Double Halo block in blue only to find a blooper after the pressing was done.
This block has given me more headaches than all the others put together.
Talk about putting them all together, aren't they nice?
(The black spot on the bottom left is the shadow of the camera and not my cat. Sorry.)
Only three more blocks to go for this mini quilt. One is Aqua, yes, then Orange for sure, and then ... what? What is missing?

I barely have enough energy to sew.
Isn't that an awful thing to say? Unfortunately, it is how I feel.
Fortunately, it is a long weekend here in Canada as we are celebrating Canada Day on July 1st. This morning, I got to my sewing machine as soon as my first coffee was poured, to push more blues under the needle.
Last week's buds have turned into a crumb block and a Stained Glass.
A little crumb block along with my regular 9-Patches.
I'm trying to get the bag of "blue with other colours" used also. Since last week's tulip had orange fabric ... an orange 9-patch ..read more

These tulips are very late bloomers, but they sure look nice. The colours are true in the first picture.
At first, I didn't like the pink one when I saw how I had sewn the zigzag in different directions, but now I think it looks whimsical. Do you like it ? or not?
These two blocks are part of a donation box for Quilts for Survivors. You can read more about this Canadian non-profit organisation at Quilts for Survivors.
