From the laid-back getting-ready vibes to the dance floor happenings, this wedding unfolded across VanDusen Botanical Gardens and Shaughnessy Restaurant. Phil's surprise serenade after the first dance adds an unexpected twist to a day filled with genuine moments. The day began with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony at Sharon’s family home. After the first look we headed to Van Dusen for some portraits with the wedding party as well as the couple. Transitioning to Shaughnessy Restaurant, the ceremony and reception exuded a relaxed elegance. No frills, just heartfelt moments th ..read more

UBC Tower Beach Engagement - Kevan + Va

My latest engagement session took place at Tower Beach by UBC. It was super fun to capture the love and laughter of Kevan and Val, along with their golden retriever against the backdrop of a breathtaking sunset. Tower Beach, known for its tranquility and scenic beauty, provided the perfect backdrop for the couple’s engagement session. Nestled near the UBC campus, the location offered a serene escape, allowing us to create memories against the Pacific Ocean's calming waves. As the sun started to set, Kevan and Val, joined by their adorable golden retriever, filled the air with laughter. Tower ..read more

Hotel Georgia Wedding - Jessica + Evan

The wedding day started a little unorthodox Jessica and Evan got ready together, though Evan hadn’t seen Jessica in her dress yet. This was evident by the raw emotion that both of them showed during the first look. Strong emotions carried on through to the ceremony and the evening was topped with a nicely choreographed first dance as well as some wonderful speeches ..read more

Deer Lake Engagement - Kai-Jing + Ronald

Kai-Jing still remembers the first meal Ronald made for her. It was the worst spaghetti that she’s ever had. Luckily, they weren’t together then; just staying together as they were part of the same figure skating team . Years later they would connect again, and this time Ronald would ask her out. They’ve been together since and I love the fun loving chemistry that they share together. Throughout the shoot they were down to try anything which was just great energy for the session ..read more

Late Summer Engagement: Bethany + Corey

Deer Lake Park is a popular spot for wedding photos, especially if any part of the wedding is happening in Burnaby. During wedding season it's not uncommon to see limo after limo in the parking lot in what can only be described as a wedding photography queue. Of course, if you’re having your wedding at Hart House, Deer Lake is the logical spot to have your portraits taken. Recently, however, I went on a walk on the other side of the park and found that it has much more to offer than the more popular side. This spot, though a bit of a walk is definitely worth checking out if you have the time ..read more

QE Park Engagement: Kim + Eric

It’s not too often that you meet a couple who first connected in ninth grade, but that was the case with Kim and Eric. It was the last day of grade 9 and Eric asked Kim to walk home with her. Kim thought nothing of it, "he lives in my direction right?”. It wasn’t until later that Kim realized that Eric lived in the opposite direction. After their tenth grade french final, they had their first date where they took the skytrain to Metrotown to watch a movie. Ten years later they’re engaged and I’m excited to be shooting their wedding ..read more

Pacific Spirit Park Micro Wedding: Angela + Oliver

Surrounded by eight of their closest friends and family, Angela and Oliver got married in an intimate wedding ceremony in the woods. Oliver’s parents are in Taiwan and couldn’t make it due to travel restrictions so they joined in over video call. It was a fun challenge incorporating them into the photos. One of the things that I love about Pacific Spirit Park is how vast and beautiful it is. You could pick just about any spot in the park and it would be so photogenic. Due to its size, it’s also quiet so you won’t find too many other people around as you have your ceremony. Angela and Oliver ac ..read more

Winter Cliffside Engagement: Anita + Phil

Anita is from Toronto, Phil from Edmonton and the three of us met in Vancouver on the warmest day of the year thus far. Restrictions had just lifted days prior allowing small outdoor gatherings again, as if the locals needed any more reason to get out that day. When we arrived, the beach was packed with small groups of people scattered throughout the cliffs. With Whytecliff Park being a popular spot for photos, I already had my route planned out however due to the crowds I had to think on my feet so that it would look like the couple had the place to themselves. Anita and Phil were full of lau ..read more

Snowy Vancouver Engagement: Andrea + Alex

Vancouver is probably the only major city in Canada that isn’t known to snow a lot. Some years can go by where we only get a light dusting of snow and it’s gone quicker than it came. The previous days we had been getting were rather cold, definitely below seasonal average so when snow was in the forecast on the weekend, I had high hopes that it would stick. That morning when I woke up and looked outside and saw at least a good couple inches of snow outside with the icy flakes still coming down, I knew I had to seize the opportunity. When it snows in Vancouver, you go shoot ..read more
