As a busy mom, grocery shopping is another task on my never-ending ‘to-do’ list. Trying to fit it in between work, appointments, shuttling my kids to evening/weekends activities and trying to get to a store when the store itself is not too busy is no easy feat.  To earn back some down time even if it’s a couple hours, I decided to give grocery delivery a try and I found Voilà!   What is Voilà? Voilà is an online grocery service available in select areas in Canada. They deliver directly from a warehouse powered by state-of-the-art-technology which tracks shelf-life in real-time.                             As a former teacher, I know that role play with dolls allows children to act out different scenarios and experiences that they may encounter in their lives. Dolls can help children to develop empathy, build self-confidence, work on their social and cognitive skills, and gain an understanding of their own feelings and those of others.   Enter Glitter Girls!   My 7 year old daughter and I were thrilled to have the opportunity to unbox not one, but two Glitter Girls dolls!  She helpe ..read more

First impressions are everything! My first impression of the Glitter & Spice baby sleep bags was – do they come in adult sizing!? They are so cute and cosy with such beautiful patterns and designs. The style my little one Gavin is wearing is called ‘Adventure Awaits’ and has adorable little animals in hot air balloons all over it. Patterns, sizing and togs, oh my! The sleep bags come in several patterns, colours, sizes and TOG ratings. TOG stands for Thermal Overall Grade and measures how insulated the sleep bag is. Glitter & Spice sleep bags come in two different TOGs – 1.0 and 2.5. T ..read more

Step Out of the Fog with Flora Ferritin+

I was tired.  Although being a mom to three busy children IS tiresome, this tired was different.  For me it was exhaustion and a groggy feeling, like I was walking around in a fog of some sort. And I woke up feeling mentally tired from the get-go and by 5pm I was hitting a wall.  Something was off and I wasn’t at my best, so I booked a doctor’s appointment and had my iron levels checked. After going over my blood test results, we made a plan to have me start taking Flora Ferritin Iron Supplement, and check my levels again after 3 months. As I sit here writing this, I am almost d ..read more

DJ Bouncin’ Beats by Fisher Price has been a cool new addition to our family! This interactive musical learning toy has both my 22 month old and 4 year old bouncing, dancing, singing and giggling – all at the same time!      We love how many different ways there are to interact with the toy. My childrens’ favourite is when their voice is recorded and played back with a fun remix effect.  My older daughter instructs my little one when to sing, based on when DJ Bouncin’ Beats turns red (which is when he is recording.)   Not only does it play music, have phrases and ..read more

I always dreamed of having two babies who would grow up to be best friends with their built-in playmate to take on life with. When I was pregnant for a second time, we learned we would be having another boy. Everyone would reaffirm my hopes by saying “How incredible! Two boys, they will be best friends, etc.” In my naivety, I assumed once I got through the newborn phase, while it would still be chaos, this mama would have a break and they could entertain each other.  As we recently surpassed the one year mark with our youngest, he has a newfound interest in my three-year-old’s toys. Mustela’s Stelatopia: A game changer for skin irritation!

Like many new mothers, I remember being caught off guard by the unsightly rash that both of my babies developed in those first few weeks of life. Their once rosy and soft skin instead became inflamed, irritated and painful looking.  I wondered what I was doing wrong, was the bath water too hot? Was I not being careful enough when wiping their faces after a feed? Was it the laundry detergent I was using? There was a lot of self doubt and self blame. While both my children dealt with skin irritation as newborns and infants, it is my now 2.5 year old son James who has had the worst experienc ..read more

Orange Naturals: FUN ways to get your vitamins!
Mommy Connections Blog

For the last little while, my kids would only eat certain foods and nothing else.  Sound familiar? Although it might be a phase, I started to worry about the nutrients they were getting. At a recent checkup, my doctor advised me to continue to give vitamin D3. I also asked about starting an omega supplement as I grew up on cod liver oil pills. I also spoke with a pediatric dietician who told me to look at the whole week of food intake as opposed to a single meal but agreed adding an omega supplement was not a bad idea.   This was around the same time I was introduced to Orange Natura ..read more
