Hi! My name is Aisling and I’m a third-year Law with Politics student at UCD. I chose this course because I really wanted to learn how to make a positive change in the world and advocate for the issues that I care about. Outside of my course, I really love volunteering and taking part in student activities, from mock trials and debating to coffee mornings and movie nights. I have been involved with the Literary and Historical (L&H) Society since first year and I have loved every minute of it, so I thought I would share some of my insight on one of the best societies on campus! What is the ..read more

Hi! My name is Katie and I’m a second-year law student at UCD. In first year I lived in the Gold Village and this year I’m in Merville. I’ve also been working in UCD Residences as a Residential Assistant since September, so I have quite a bit of insight into what it’s like to live on campus! The Basics The first thing to know is that there are six different types of accommodation. Five of them are all next to each other on the Belfield (main) campus and the Blackrock accommodation is on the Smurfit (graduate business) campus. The second thing to know is that there’s an accommodation called ‘Th ..read more

Daniel Power, UCD Business & Law student talks about his experience doing a summer internship in McCann Fitzgerald. During the Summer of 2022, I spent three weeks working in McCann Fitzgerald as a summer intern in their aviation finance department. It was an experience like no other – getting real-world experience in a large corporate law firm where I was given challenging legal work was hugely beneficial in confirming my wish to pursue a career in corporate law. As an intern, I spent much of my time reviewing transaction documents, sitting in on client calls, and helping my asso ..read more

Each team was asked to survey the building and survey other students to find out what they needed and come up with an i ..read more

I live by schedules and timetables. So, the first thing I do when I wake up is run through my day’s lectures/labs/tutorials and other programmes in my head. Sometimes I love my timetable, sometimes I dread it. Sometimes my college day starts only at 2pm and ends by 4pm. On others, it runs from 9am to 5pm. Whatever it is, it is the love for the degree I am doing that keeps me going. Also, no matter which day of the week it is, I wake up before 8am, because there is so much precious time in the morning you wouldn’t want to waste by sleeping. After a proper breakfast (I insist on having a proper ..read more

When I was in leaving cert, I really didn’t have a clue what I wanted to study. I also couldn’t really pinpoint a particular job that I was interested in (doctor, teacher, lawyer…), which made choosing a course even more stressful. I only seemed to be able to rule out things I did not enjoy – science, history, business – which at the time, felt as though it eliminated most of my options. That wasn’t to say I didn’t have any subjects I liked. I really enjoyed English and Maths, and I loved art, so in the back of my mind I thought maybe I’d like to do something with a creative twist. There were ..read more

My name is Katherine, and I am a research Masters student in the School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics. I began my undergraduate degree in Spanish and Linguistics in UCD in 2015, followed by my current research masters course in 2020. I have always been particularly passionate about Spanish, as I began studying it in my primary school years, which ultimately led me to studying Spanish in secondary school, before beginning my university studies. When I applied for UCD, I was certain that I wanted to study Spanish, but I found selecting my second and third subjects to be quite challengin ..read more
