Visiting a carnival has always been one of the top items on my bucket list. When a friend of mine invited me to visit her while she was in Colombia in February, and the dates coincided with Baranquilla carnival, it was a very quick and easy decision. Barranquilla Carnival is one of Colombia’s most important folkloric celebrations. It’s a fusion of cultures, music, dance and tradition, with parades and performances spread around the city. My stay in this beautiful island would not have been complete without taking some portraits of the people of met. Just a couple of days before my departure, we planned a photo-shoot with my host family. We chose La Loberia, because it was the closest beach to us, and has a lot of space and the variety of sets for the photo-shoot. The weather was perfect, and the sun was just setting slowly giving us a chance to take photos in a beautiful soft light. Travelling in Galápagos has been a truly magical experience.. if it was not for the photos, I would think that it was nothing but a beautiful dream.. It feels surreal that not so long ago I was exploring different beaches every day, observing sea lions playing in the sand, snorkelling with colourful fish and immersing myself in the world where animals are not afraid of human beings. I am super excited and proud to announce that the move of my studio from the loft to my garden has been fully completed last night. All my backdrops and lights have got a new home and it’ll be even easier to create different photography sets. I now have larger wall space for family groups. Last week we had a lovely morning in Marlow photographing Helen, who is a cranio-sacral therapist based in Marlow. Helen’s biggest passion is to work with babies and resolve problems associated with difficult or traumatic births. Letting go of tension and fear held in the body enables both to settle into calmness. We had a beautiful baby model for the shoot, who was just perfect for the job.
