I’m very into the wide leg jumpsuit atm. First to capture my heart was the Fowey jumpsuit which I blogged about recently here, and almost immediately the Tate Romper shows up on my radar. Just like buses, you don’t get one for ages and then two come along together! The Tate has an empire waist, huge flowing trousers/pants (with pockets), invisible side seam zip and thin straps which you can choose to sew to your correct length, or make into adjustable ties. Oh and by the way, at the time of writing this pattern is on sale! Sizing was very easy to choose on this pattern, with the most important ..read more

Here we go again, yet another beautiful pattern from Tilly and the Buttons for us all to get excited about* Nell is a mix and match blouse and dress with sleeve options…. you can choose between two blouse patterns (straight or peplum), you can also decide between a knee or midi dress length. There are four sleeve styles – yes, you heard me right, options for patch pockets and finally you need to pick if you like regular buttons or faux tie fastenings. I think that’s it! You guys all know that I’m a dress lover so I was always going to choose the dress to be my first version of this pattern. As ..read more

I feel that this pattern needs a fanfare entrance. I mean, look how cute it is! The Fowey Jumpsuit is part of an adorable, stylish and practical pattern collection from Sew Hello Patterns. The lovely founder, Mary, is based in South Africa, but has some fond memories of time spent in beautiful Cornwall – hence the nod to the Cornish locations for her pattern names. Such a cute idea. This pattern was very kindly gifted to me, but with no obligations to post. So, here are the details. The Fowey is a sleeveless jumpsuit with bust darts, in-seam pockets, centre back zip closure, with a gathered w ..read more

The BF Patterns Bestie Bag

You may have noticed that I have a thing for bags and baskets. I love making them, I love wearing them, they are often perfect projects for using up your fabric scraps and are usually a relatively quick and simple item to sew up compared to bigger projects. Banana shaped cross body bags are everywhere and have been for some time. I love the freedom and security that a cross body bag gives you, you have more control over the contents of your bag when the zip opening is right under your nose and no more strap sliding off your shoulder moments. NGL there are a ton of patterns out that fit into th ..read more

This could actually be one of my fave dress/fabric creations ever guys! As a Minerva Brand Ambassador, I often work with Minerva to make some great creations, but there is something about this stunning dress pattern and this adorable rayon viscose that I am over the moon with. I am so in love with this Daphne Dress from Hubba Ding, I mean, those tiers! As usual guys, as this is a project for Minerva, I am going to ask you to click the link here to see it in all it’s glory and read all about it, but I hope you do, as like I said, this one feels special. In the meantime, I shall be swirling and ..read more

The Bob Pant from Style Arc.

The power of Instagram. There’s a reason that I don’t wear trousers all that often, it’s because more often than not I feel that they just don’t suit me. However the Bob Pant from Style Arc kept catching my eye and I relented. They looked really cute on everyone that has made them and who doesn’t need a simple pair of woven elasticated trousers in their wardrobe? These trousers have an edgy balloon shape to them, and also have side seam pockets. If you have not sewn a Style Arc pattern before, I think it’s fair to say that they are pretty basic. They are a digital download, and everything that ..read more

They say that the best things are worth waiting for, and boy oh boy this has been a long time coming. This is not because it has taken a particularly long time to make, but because I just didn’t get around to finishing the ‘quilt sandwich’ after I had made the top. This is the Folk Blooms Quilt and isn’t it just the most adorable quilt pattern you ever did see?! However there are a ton more beautiful and whimsical designs over on the Pen and Paper Patterns site here. I’m pretty sure that you will find it nigh on impossible to choose a favourite, they are all so charming. It’s a traditionally p ..read more

My final blog post for 2023 is going to be short and sweet as it is a garment that I have sewn for Minerva as part of my role as a #minervabrandambassador The Pearl is a sweet little v neck wrap cardigan from Tilly and the Buttons that is cropped at the waist and fastens with a tie. I chose to make the balloon sleeve version (there is a short sleeve and a long straight sleeve choice too), and used this gorgeous navy sparkle knit sweater fabric. I won’t say too much more on here because my full post is available to see now over at Minerva here. All that remains is to wish you all a very safe an ..read more

A Bargello Shopping Basket

You may have noticed that I love to make bags. I also love to use woven shopping baskets for my bigger shopping trips too, so as I have made lots of over the shoulder, cross body and tote style bags recently, I thought I would give a structured shopping bag a go. I picked up some large sheets of plastic canvas whilst on holiday in the States earlier on in the year, but if you are in the UK, or elsewhere you can find them online very easily. My sheets were Plastic Canvas – 7 count – 12″ x 18″. I am describing this as a Bargello project, but you might also call it tapestry or long stitch. I had ..read more
