For a month now, I have been trialing a new long term time-lapse camera.  The TikeePRO2+ was designed by Enlaps, a Kickstarter project coming out of France a few years ago.  It has taken off and so I’m pleased to be an ambassador for their camera.  It’s completely self sufficient with a solar panel to keep the camera functioning through all temperatures.  Connected via 4G, a SIM card ensures pictures are sent to their server twice daily. I can see the latest images added to an ongoing time-lapse.  The camera is fully weatherproof with two lenses providing a full 220 de ..read more

I’ve always been impressed with Lumix as a camera brand, ever since my dad purchased a compact camera for his overseas travel.  Not only that, I heard great stories of their famous cameras for video, like the GH5.  Lumix have also been a big sponsor in the prestigious New Zealand Geographic Photographer of The Year competition. Over the past few months, I’ve been pre-occupied finalising my latest time-lapse titled Terrestrial South New Zealand.  These are must see awe-inspiring scenes from New Zealand’s less frequented areas and a “marriage of beautiful scenery with fitting music” attributed to award-winning New Zealand composer, Rhian Sheehan. ‘Terrestrial South: New Zealand’ depicts the beauty of nature in some of the less frequented areas of Aotearoa New Zealand.  The scenes show the change in light, the beauty of unusual rock forms, unique clouds, reflective lakes, and the clear night skies as seen in the worl ..read more

Fujifilm GFX 50R time-lapse trial

In the later part of 2018, I noted that Fujifilm released its medium format GFX 50R onto the market. Wanting to upgrade my next camera to something lighter with higher specs, the GFX 50R seemed to have all the hallmarks and got my attention.  I also noticed that Fujifilm were making their medium format cameras more affordable, and that’s a good thing.  Not only is the GFX 50R mirrorless, but it’s not really that much bigger than some other DSLRs such as the Nikon D4 or the Canon 1D X MII. The Fujifilm GFX 50R is described as a rangefinder-style camera and the second in their series of medium f ..read more
