Hi guys, Hope you’ve all had a great month of training. As many of you will know I’ve just spent the last 8 days with 11 of my athletes at my team training camp at Club La Santa, Lanzarote. To say I look forward to this time every year would be a huge understatement. To have the chance to spend quality time looking and watching my athletes in the sun is an opportunity that cannot be missed. I know many of us have felt ground down by the weather this Winter, especially with the relentless rain we’ve been having.  Until the camp I hadn’t been out on my bike since Christmas which for ..read more

Hi guys, Well, after 14 months of no illnesses to speak of the dreaded lurgy final got me last weekend. To say I’ve had a great run would be an understatement after having the worst flu of my life back in 2023. I honestly think it took me over 2 months to fully recover, so I was determined to take every precaution this winter to avoid illness. It seems it may have worked, or did I just get lucky? Who knows, but the precautions I put in place from November were strictly adhered to. These were: Avoid socialising as much a possible through the Christmas period. If many of you know me that’s eas ..read more

Hi guys, Firstly, just wanted to wish you all a belated Happy New Year.  Hope you all stocked up well on some good quality food, drink and family time. From what I see every year Christmas and New Year is always a very mixed bag for athletes. With very few being able to maintain the consistency they would probably like to achieve for all kinds of reasons. The number one reason for this is illness, and this year has been no exception with many of you going from one illness to the next in what can prove to be a hugely frustrating time. Very few are gaining in this period, and many are taki ..read more

Hi guys, The 2023 racing season finally ended this month and I’m very pleased to say one of our athletes well and truly went out with a bang. Just wanted to say a very special shout out to Andrew Reardon who put in a lifetime best performance at Ironman Florida to go 9:36:06. An incredible performance but one that is so very much deserved. For Andrew this was the end of a long season but for many of you your season is only just getting started again. If you were sensible, you will have taken a well-earned rest. The reward from this is you will be feeling hugely excited & motivated about ..read more

Hi guys, October has been a particularly special month for the ladies as we had the first ever women’s only Ironman World Championships in Hawaii.  This proved to be a roaring success for many and I for one was so pleased to see the ladies finally get their day, they have waited far too long for this in my opinion. So often when I’ve been to Hawaii in the past, I’ve seen how putting so many athletes on the same course on the same day really has a hugely negative impact on the women’s race. It’s something that has frustrated me for years as Ironman have put more and more athletes on ..read more

Hi Guys, It been a huge month for Team Nagi racing with many outstanding performances. To say we have had a roller coaster with the weather yet again would be a huge understatement as temperatures soared both here for a short time and then abroad. What I was so proud to witness was the incredibly sensible decision making 2 of our long course athletes made when the temps hit 30 degrees on race day. Where many can fall into the trap of maintaining a certain power output or speed, these two athletes let their heart rate be the star of the show and it quite literally saved their races. Sure, they ..read more

Hi guys, Hope you’ve all had a great month. I’ve just got back from the most glorious training week at home in Wales. As much as I don’t like taking too much time out this was much needed to help refuel the coaching batteries. What really talks to my soul is when I’m up in those Welsh mountains on my bike, running along the river Taff or swimming in the Olympic pool in Cardiff Bay. A change of scenery works wonders for the body, mind and soul. Wales is my go-to place for this so hope you managed to that special place that speaks to your soul and helps you recharge after a long season. My athl ..read more

Hi guys, Hope you’ve all had a great July. If June was all about the crazy heat we’ve been having, then July must go down as one of the wettest on record. To be honest I’ve given up looking at the awful weather forecasts. The only guarantee is that we will get torrential rain, a bit of sun, wind, humidity and everything else on most days now! It’s been a frustrating month to say the least and some got hit much harder than others whilst out there racing. Unfortunately, Andrew Reardon came off his bike and fractured his scapula at Swansea 70.3. Conditions on the day were horrendous with m ..read more

Hi Guys, Hope you’ve all had a great June; it’s been a hot one that’s for sure! We seemed to miss out on a nice gradual build in temperature this year and jumped directly into the 30’s. This was both home and abroad and we also seemed to have humidity thrown into the mix too which is very unusual for June in the UK. Only yesterday they announced it was the hottest June on record since records began in 1884. Many of you will have been impacted by this in racing this month, some more so than others. The layer of extra difficulty and stress this adds to the body when the temps hit 30 + cannot be ..read more

Hi guys, Hope you’ve all had a great May! It’s been a very busy one here at TN headquarters with many of you kicking off your first races of the season. There have been some terrific performances with athletes hitting the podium and others who have overcome real adversity just to get to the finish line. As usual I’ve seen it all! What is crucial for athletes to realise is that peak performance rarely ever comes from the first race of the year. Remember you are coming off the back of virtually no triathlon racing since 2022. It’s like putting down the first pieces of a jigsaw puzzle that you b ..read more
