Hey Everybody!!! Well we got a brand new member added to our pack!!! He's kinda funny lookin' (not a lot of fur) and he barks funny but we love him anyway!!!  Mom says we get to keep him!!!!!! His name is Joe Julio Jones and he's a real cutie. We got to meet him two days after he was born. He arrived on November 15th. Mom won't let us play with him yet though. He's 8½ pounds, 19½ inches long, has strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes!! He sleeps a LOT and Mom says he's a good baby 'cause he doesn't cry a lot. WOOOF Everybody!!! We know it's been a while since we updated our blog but it's been a little crazy around here, (as usual,) and Mom has been kinda sick....so we'll let her get by with it this time. Tailwags Y'all!! OK. Mom is finally awake and able to make something other than blubbering sounds.  She woke Dad up at 1:00 AM night before last and they LEFT!!!!!!  Us furkids figured they were going after another "emergency" furkid 'cause that's usually the only reason they would wake up and leave the house at that time of night. Howdy Y'all!! Benny when he first arrived at Lighthouse Benny now Little Benny passed his check-up today and the vet said it was ok to let him join the Lighthouse crew!! He's doubled his weight, his infections are cleared up and his hair is starting to come back in!!!  He's a cute kid!! WOOF Y'all!!! Two of the furkids dug under the fence and disappeared!!! Mom  and Dad searched all day and into the night for them. They yelled themselves hoarse calling the two little demons!! Climbing up and down steep mountain terrain searching. Our place is surrounded by coffee fields so they could easily be lost. No road to actually follow back home. 8-16-13 Mom had seen a story about a dog in Limon Costa Rica who had been attacked with a machete. He had two horrendous wounds on his shoulders. Of course Mom offered to take the dog in and try to save it as the woman who had originally found the injured dog has no money for vets and for care. Someone volunteered to drive the dog here to Atenas to our shelter. The dog was to arrive here yesterday but Mom never heard from any of the parties involved. Tailwags Y'all!!! Just a little update on what's going on here at our place!! Gracie, Mercy and Mr Fox are all doing great. Healthy, (at last) and happy!!! We got a new kid in two days ago. Mom named him Benny. He was abandoned in Atenas and is now here. He is in pretty bad shape but he's is eating good and is learning to not be so scared of humans. Wags Y'all!!! We've been pretty  busy around here so we have gotten behind on our blogging again. Sorry about that but we'll try to catch you up with this blog post. We lost our Andre on July 2nd. He had not been feeling well for a couple of days due to the cancer he had. When he started refusing to eat we knew it was time to let him go. Up until then he never seemed "sick" but we knew the time would come when he needed to go to the bridge to be with all the others. Things have been pretty busy here 'cause Mom's got a new kid named Mr. Fox and she and Dad have been pretty busy with him.  A kind lady rescued him. She's gonna take him back when she comes back from the states. He was pretty sick when he got here and they've had to do lots of stuff for him. He weighed 6 pounds when he got here and now he weighs 12 and a quarter. But he's still a skeleton!!  Mom says he probably should weigh about 20 or 25 pounds when he's healthy again ..read more
