One of the largest promotions in the US hosting more than 100 tournaments in 2023 in the US and well known as one of the premium promotions in the US is now focusing on the European market as well. One of the main markets they want to focus on is Scandinavia as it is known to have a very high number of high level competitors and no other promotion today is offering a high level of tournaments conisistently across the borders. The Scandinavians had a historic showing at the 2022 IBJJF European Championships in Rome in the first Europeans since pre pandemic. They showed that the lockdown has not stopped the progress in the nordic region! The Abu Dhabi World Pro Jiu Jitsu Championship’s 12th edition took place last week in the Jiu Jitsu Arena in Abu Dhabi. The Tarikoplata is a joint-lock type submission used in grappling which was first unveiled in jiu-jitsu’s sporting circuit by a young Norwegian competitor named Tarik Hopstock during the mid-2010s decade. The Tarikoplata works as a variation of the kimura lock.
