I'm learning Italian and I heard that I have to immerse myself in the language and it will be a great motivation to listen actively. I hope 1 day to be able to be able to read The Holy Bible in Italian and to understand everything!

Having a hard time finding inquirers or Christians in general to talk to or hang out with irl, other than the older Greek and Armenian regulars at my smoke shop that got me into Orthodoxy. Only been to liturgy once and enjoyed it deeply, but it’d be neat if there’s somebody around my age that I can attend with.

Just had a really strange and eerie conversation with someone today. I'm confused and startled. Sorry for the vagueness, but can't even describe it that well or talk about it in detail.
Please, pray so God has mercy on me and that things work out, so that thing doesn't happen.

I am a Byzantine Catholic, considering converting to Orthodox. I am very conflicted spiritually and I'm not even sure about what I'm doing. I just know I have reservations about Catholic doctrine and authenticity.
The more I learn, the more I feel as though the Catholic Church has strayed from biblical worship. There are many doctrines I believe but many that I have trouble accepting.
I also have feelings of guilt and betrayal. The people at my Catholic parish have all been warm and welcoming since I joined the church, and they are very nice people. I am just having many doubts about the doct ..read more

Quite often I have the feeling people don't draw any distinction between Protestantism and Roman Catholicism and the people that adhere to those beliefs. If someone was simply born as a Protestant or Roman Catholic, why would anyone coming from Protestantism or Roman Catholicism ever become Orthodox? Wouldn't that be impossible? And there would not be much reason for any ecumenism either, right? At least not the type of ecumenism in which Orthodox belief the Orthodox Church has the fullness of truth while others have parts of the Truth... This problem seems to be alive both in ecumenical and ..read more

I’ve been having a lot of issues, especially lately. I am going to attend my first liturgy next Sunday but feel nervous I try to read the Bible and help with my struggles I’ve been having with lust (specifically pornography) and my language.
I have been reading on this Reddit for a little now and y’all seem to be the only ones that care. I get nervous even driving past the local parish because I know I will attend and I feel unwanted by God I guess.
I would appreciate any prayers or advice if you could.

Very little news coverage of this in the US. Very interesting.

Among the solemn services of Great Lent is also included the Service of the Akathist Hymn, this wonderful Hymn to the Mother of God with its many historical, doctrinal and symbolic elements, which make it unparalleled from a literary point of view.
As is well known, many of the events associated with the Mother of God are related to the Queen City of Constantinople, since the Theotokos was its "Champion General" and its overseer.
In particular, the Service of the Akathist Hymn was connected to the Monastery of Blachernae, where, after the siege of the Avars and ..read more

The OT lacks any clear theological picture regarding Satan as this cosmic Anti-Theistic evil. Instead, according to Job, Zechariah 3, etc. Satan is merely God's prosecutor.
Why does Satan in the OT seem so different to the NT portrayal of him?
