Salam I’m not Pakistani but my soon to be husband is. So I’ve been researching on desi wedding traditions and I found out about Thaals, and I was wondering if I do it for him??? I don’t know if he’s gonna do it for me, but I just want to be prepared in case he does. And also when do I prepare it?? Do I do it before the Nikkah?? We’re not engaged yet, he just asked for my hand. So I have quite a bit of time and I’d like to get ahead of this. Thank you.

My MIL visited family overseas and brought back a ton of jewelry for me for my wedding and other occasions. I was overwhelmed with how gorgeous everything she gave me was, but I quickly realized that the sets she picked out for me for my ceremony are fairly outdated (by 5-10 years). I got a second opinion from the designer of my lehenga and she agreed that the jewelry will look odd. She’s helped me find a set that I love on Etsy that will match the lehenga so much better. How do I break it to my MIL that I won’t wear the jewelry for just the ceremony? (I do plan on wearing pieces for other ev ..read more

I’m a white American woman married to a wonderful Indian man. We’re having our big wedding with his family in New Delhi in less than 6 months. I have only attended one wedding in Indian so far, and we did not attend the mehendi. While my outfits for the sangeet and main wedding day are sorted out, I am struggling for the mehendi because I’d rather wear a western dress (I don’t have the body for lehengas), but it is difficult for me to find anything that is covered up enough but also light enough for an outdoor summer setting, and also bridal. Does anyone have any ideas of the western equivale ..read more

Hey everyone,
I recently purchased a dress for one of my wedding events from a shop in Chandni Chowk, but it's far from what I expected. Despite providing specific details and a reference picture (picture 3), the dress doesnt meet my expectations.
I paid 35K Rupees for it, which feels like a significant investment, but I'm not satisfied with the outcome. Now, I'm torn between requesting a refund or negotiating alterations with the vendor. Also how to approach the vendor regarding the issue.
Feeling stressed, I'd appreciate any advice or suggestions on how to handle this situation delicate ..read more

Hey I need ideas for what type of dress to wear for my engagement photoshoot. The photoshoot will be outdoors at a golf club with lots of greenery, water fountains and a lake. I do not want to wear any Indian outfit as I’ll be wearing quite a few of those for my wedding events so I wanted a different vibe for this.

I'm (female) am attending a Western/Indian/Chinese wedding with my partner's (male) family soon and we are all unsure of what to wear. The groom is Indian and the bride is Chinese, both raised in the US so it's a true fusion of cultures. I am a family friend on the groom's side. I will put the schedule and dresscodes below. The events are all being held at hotels/reception halls.
Day 1: Garba & Mehndi
Dresscode: More casual. Wear something easy to dance in.
Day 2: Western Wedding
Dresscode: Semi-formal.
Day 3: Hindu & Chinese Weddings & Reception
Schedule:
11:30 AM Lunch
2:00 PM ..read more
