Hey just had some questions if anyone can answer please: 1. Wondering what the order of merit is actually based on at AV 2. Given they’ve hardly done intakes this past financial year are we thinking they will extend the 1 year rule on OOM if you haven’t received a call? submitted by /u/Icy_Focus6752 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Paramedic Student Woes

Hi everyone! I'm a current paramedic student in an accelerated program in the US. I'm currently 4-ish months in, and we just started rotations. But I can't shake the feeling that none of this will sink in. I was an EMT for a year prior to medic school, but I mostly did a lot of driving/paperwork and less teching. Today I missed an IV, kept messing up patient assessments, tangled the EKG wires, put stickers on the wrong limbs, etc. I know that I'm very new, but I was embarrassed that I made mistakes on the most basic of BLS tasks. And now I have to combine advanced practices?? I'm still fumbli ..read more

Hi guys, I am currently exploring a product/app idea in the NREMT standardized exam space(Paramedics, AEMT, EMT and EMR). The idea came about recently after I saw my friend struggling to navigate and pass his EMT exam. I would like to get your thoughts on the big problems/pain points you are going through or went through while studying and doing practice tests online. Here are a few questions I'd love to get your thoughts on: What were/are the biggest challenges you faced/face in preparing for the NREMT exams? How did you/do you approach studying and practicing for the exams? What resources ..read more

I'm currently studying the AAOS critical care book (friend gave it to me). Unfortunately, the online across doesn't come with lecture outlines. I loved the Nancy Caroline lecture outlines while in paramedic school and was wondering if anyone had access to the critical care ones. Any help is greatly appreciated. submitted by /u/laste-one101 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hey all. I hope everyone is doing well. I was wondering if anyone knew of any paramedic jobs in the West Palm Beach/Fort Lauderdale area? I am moving in the near future and am looking for any leads I can get. I have 2 years ALS experience and just completed a critical care course. If this is the wrong place to post this let me know and I will take it down. Thank you in advance! submitted by /u/Headass-37 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I bought the lA MED FP-C course last year sometime. I could still access the course last week. When I attempted to login now it's taking me to a link for thought industries.com. Is anyone else having this issue? If so how do I access the course? I have attempted to use the link through the Impact EMS website and the same issue. Thanks again for any help. submitted by /u/Jhjayhead [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Checking BGL in server hypoglycemia.

Hey Reddit/ medics Medic / RN need your help, I’m creating a algorithm on severe hypoglycemia events for my research clinic. I am having a problem with the doctors with them stating that BGL levels should be checked every 15 mins. I’ve looked at ADA, pub med, and other sources. Some say 15 minutes, others say nothing about time but just frequently. I’ve looked of firefighter/medic protocols in the error and now I’m at a crossroads. Oral glucose / glucagon can be checked after 15, but if given dextrose it should be 5. How can I go about this, actively trying to find more information. Please he ..read more

Australia grad hiring 2024

As a general PSA, every Australian ambulance service is incredibly secretive about their hiring practices. Operational staff will generally not know the behind the scenes of a particular recruitment process. There’s probably a few posts a day at the moment asking about when services are hiring- the answer is, most of the time no one here actually knows and is just giving you their best guess. Put your application in for the services you want to work for, jump through the various hoops and then from there you’ll just have to either wait, or email them directly to ask. Be very prepared to be gi ..read more
