It should be illegal for the Denver Nuggets to own this much mental real estate over the Los Angeles Lakers. They did it to them AGAIN.
The Nuggets defeated the Lakers 112-105 to take a commanding 3-0 series lead on Thursday night. Once again, the Nuggets trailed at halftime. Once again, they used a third quarter run to propel themselves ahead. Once again, they shut the door in the fourth quarter with elite shotmaking and playmaking, this time from Michael Porter Jr. and Aaron Gordon especially.
The Nuggets jumped out to a double-digit lead in the third quarter on great shotmaking from the sta ..read more

The Denver Broncos have their next franchise quarterback. Sean Payton and the Broncos took Oregon Ducks star QB Bo Nix in Thursday’s 2024 NFL Draft.
Denver Broncos draft Ducks star QB Bo Nix
Bo Nix is a Denver Bronco. The Oregon Ducks signal-caller is headed to the Broncos after being selected 12th overall. He’ll now get the chance to work with Sean Payton as the Broncos look to build a team around him in their quest to compete inside the AFC West.
Nix was a Heisman candidate in the 2023 college football season, throwing for 4500 yards and 45 touchdowns compared to just three interceptions. He ..read more

One year ago against the Los Angeles Lakers in the Conference Finals, the Denver Nuggets defended their homecourt behind mastery from Nikola Jokic and heroics from Jamal Murray. Game 1 was all about Jokic and how he controlled the matchup against Anthony Davis and the Lakers frontcourt. Game 2 was much more of a struggle, with the Nuggets trailing for a while until Murray put together a fourth quarter outburst to carry the Nuggets across the finish line.
Through two games in the first round this year, it looks much the same.
Yes, the details are different. Yes, Murray’s field goal percentage i ..read more

Tomorrow night, the 2024 NFL Draft kicks off with the first round.
And because they went on a run in the middle of last season, the Denver Broncos pick No. 12 overall.
While the obvious biggest need on the team is at quarterback, the Broncos will likely miss out on the top-4 QBs. That’s the bad news.
The good news is it opens Denver up to take a possible great player at a number of other needy positions.
The 2024 NFL Draft is key for Denver Broncos moving forward
QB or not QB? That is the question.
And in all likelihood, the Broncos will probably go after another need at No. 12 overall.

Strike 2: Before he’d even warmed up his office chair in Boulder, Deion Sanders – ever the marketing machine – launched his wide ranging and self-promoting social media efforts, including the hashtag “#WeComing.”
He needs to add another one: “#WeGoing.”
Ah, the wonders of the Transfer Portal.
Remember, Sanders forced more than 50 guys to “hit the portal” before he even coached a game at CU. Today, after relying on the portal for roughly 80% of his most recent recruiting class, Sanders has already seen 15 of his hand selected players – including highly-ranked high school recruits and former po ..read more

Rewind back to the second round in 2021. The Avalanche won each of the first two games at home against the Vegas Golden Knights and were just minutes away from stealing Game 3.
Vegas managed to score late, winning that game and each of the next three to defeat the Avs in six games. Despite leading 2-0 in the series, the Avs were not the better team in either game. Eventually, Vegas’ dominance proved to be too much, and they took the 0-2 deficit back to their barn feeling good about how they started the series.
Sounds quite familiar, doesn’t it?

The Denver Broncos are gearing one step closer toward extending star cornerback Patrick Surtain II. After picking up his fifth-year option on Tuesday, the Broncos appear focused on having Surtain in their future plans.
Denver Broncos pick up fifth-year option on Patrick Surtain II
In a move that comes as a no-brainer, the Denver Broncos picked up star cornerback Patrick Surtain II’s fifth-year option on Tuesday afternoon, as first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Surtain’s option is $19.8M and is the first domino move in what will hopefully lead to a multi-year extension. After navigating the ..read more

The Colorado Rockies are, unsurprisingly, off to a terrible start in 2024 and so despite the fact that it’s still April, it’s worth taking a look ahead at who might be traded off the team at the deadline when they should be strong sellers yet again.
A year ago, somewhat quietly, Rockies GM Bill Schmidt broke dramatically from the philosophy of his predecessor Jeff Bridich who routinely made among the fewest overall transactions in MLB and was especially allergic to swinging trades.
Schmidt set a new Rockies record by making 10 trades on the year, the vast majority of which saw veteran players ..read more
