A talk on the little-known Killygordon writer, Samuel Seaton, will be the topic for Monday night’s meeting of the Ballybofey, Stranorlar & District Historical Society. The monthly gathering will take place in the Henderson Hall (F93 XV29), Stranorlar, at 7pm. This will be followed by a talk for members and the general public at 8pm on the fascinating story of a man not many have ever heard about. Samuel Seaton (main pic) was a poet and storyteller, believed to be from the townland of Ballinacor, Killygordon. He lived to the fine old age of 87 and died in March 1934. Breaking: Two arrested as Donegal Gardai make €125,000 drugs bust

Donegal Gardai have discovered more than €125,000 of drugs in the Milford District. Tow men were arrested following the discovery of the drugs haul yesterday. An estimated €116,000 worth of cannabis herb and €10,000 of suspected ‘magic’ mushrooms was seized by Gardaí attached to the Donegal Divisional Drugs Unit following searches at two properties within the Milford District. Two men (50s, 40s) were arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. They have since been released. A file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions. Woman left with plate in jaw after vicious assault in Bundoran

A Judge has refused jurisdiction in a case where a woman was left with a permanent plate and screws in her jaw after a serious assault in Bundoran. The case against Calvin McCormack was before Judge Ciaran Liddy at Ballyshannon District Court. McCormack, a 26-year-old of Gaelic Park, Bundoran, is charged with assault causing harm to Hollie Hickman on July 2, 2023 at Bundoran Community Library, Station Road, Bundoran. Inver Rowing Club will be kicking off their 2024 season with an open evening for people of all abilities on Sunday. They plan to have the Skiff and Skull boats in the water and it is open to people with all levels of fitness and all ages from 11 upwards. A long-running dispute over fishing rights around Rockall could be resolved following fresh discussions with the Irish authorities, the Scottish Government has said. The revelation was made in a TG4 current affairs documentary that will air on Wednesday 24th of April at 9.30 pm. Donegal Gardaí have been busy catching speeding drivers during ‘National Slow Down Day.’ Members of the Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit nabbed three drivers travelling at excessive speeds in a 100 KPH zone. One was clocked at 137 KPH (85mph), one at 126 KPH and one at 121 KPH. Gardaí from the Buncrana Roads Policing Unit were also busy mounting checkpoints today. They detected a vehicle travelling at 89KPH in 60KPH speed zone near a Primary School in the Burnfoot area this morning.
