The Austin boys and girls each took third place at triangular at Larry Gilbertson Track and Field Monday. The Austin baseball team found its swing a little too late as it lost to Kasson-Mantorville 7-3 in Seltz Field Monday. The Packers (2-5 overall) put together a late surge as Dakota Retterath hit a two-out, two-run single to left field to bring Austin within 5-2 in the bottom of the sixth. The KoMets (4-2 overall) added two runs in the top of the seventh before Gage Helgeson drove in a run for Austin in the final frame. Four-vehicle crash on I90 sends three to the hospital

Three people were injured Monday afternoon resulting from a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 east of Austin. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash took place just after 2 p.m. Monday afternoon a few miles east of Austin and involved a 2016 Ford Transit Van, 2022 Freightliner semi, 2014 Ford pick-up and a 2012 Chevy Equinox. All four vehicles were traveling eastbound on I-90 when they made contact. Minnesota State Sen. Nicole Mitchell from Woodbury was arrested early Monday in Detroit Lakes on suspicion of burglary. Detroit Lakes Police Chief Steve Todd said police received a call about an active burglary at 4:45 a.m. Detroit Lakes police and Becker County deputies responded to the call and found Mitchell in the residence. Chief Todd said Mitchell, 49, was arrested without incident and no weapons were involved. She was booked into the Becker County jail.
