https://goo.gl/maps/sMdKQgU6cvJEt6bcA KOMOOT ROUTE MAP The many Climate Change disasters happening around the world dictates that if we all travel we do it as Climate friendly as possible. I’ve been traveling around Europe since 2013 by bicycle and since 2020 with an E-bike. When you combine a bicycle with the train or bus, the opportunities are sustainable option. I’ve now bicycled 27 countries thanks to the Slovakian bike tour. I took the train from Ljubljana to Bratislava. The first 4 days it rained like crazy in Bratislava I took the tram to the city center for just one day. I met a Fren ..read more

The UK was one of the few European countries I haven’t biked yet. As a HUGE fan of the TV show THE PRISONER, this is my chance to “LIVE MY DREAM” & visit Portmeirion, where the show was filmed. Taking my bike involved using the bus to Paris, Euro star to London and train to Liverpool, a mere 44 hours later. Liverpool being the home of the Beatles I had to do the Beatles Bicycle Tour: Paul McCartney & John Lennon’s childhood homes, Ringo Stars tribute building, strawberry fields and more. BEVOG BREWERY TOUR I was reading in the Slovenian Times about Bevog Brewery‘s new series of extinction & threatened wildlife beer cans. I called to see if I could buy some, they mentioned they were having an event the coming weekend. Yep, first trip of year. Bevog Brewery is technically a Slovenian brewer, but is actually located just over the border in Austria. There’s a really nice campground near the Brewery. This is my third time at this campground, so I know I have to bring cat snacks for Charlie. The Bevog event was super fun, I took the train to Celje and biked to Velenje. I took ..read more

ANOTHER GREAT CAR-FREE ROUTE I’ve bike toured most of Slovenia, except one part, the southwest. So it’s time to explore the backroads, breweries, and campgrounds of SW Slovenia. The weather been a little rainy so didn’t leave Ljubljana till 3 pm. Stopped by Human Fish Brewery in Vrhnika, waited out a some rain, easy. Then a short ride to Logatec and a cute little campground, CASTLE PARK. It has everything you need, dishwashing station, shower/bathrooms and a very nice out of the rain shelter. Besides the campground, there are apartments and a good on site restaurant. I’m riding towards Idirja ..read more

CAR FREE BIKING Ebike touring is more fun than I could have imagined. I’ve toured the world twice by bicycle. At 65 Ebike touring has taken the experience to a whole new level of FUN! The pandemic has kept me touring in Slovenia only. Every trip I take, there’s always a road that is the “The best touring roads in Slovenia” . Bloško Jezero (Lake) I’m always looking for a new & different campground to visit, score. Bloško jezero, is just that place. It was built over many years by the owners. Includes an awesome swimming lake, glamping & camping, great woodwork & carvings, nice commu ..read more

E-Bike tour Northeast Slovenia: Jezersko, Velenje, Ptuj, Gornja Radgona, Murska Sobota, Maribor & Celje I’ve ridden to Jezersko many times. If you’re avoiding the crowds in July & August, this is a great escape for some great hiking and biking. I have some friends who live here. They gather wild herbs, grow mint and grow raspberries for making syrup and jams. I volunteered to help clean-up the raspberry rows. Doing this kind of work makes you realize how much work growing food is and how lucky we are There’s a super (somewhat new) pizza restaurant too. YARDTAMING AGAIN PIZZA WITH A V ..read more

FIRST E-BIKE TOUR, SOCA VALLEY, SLOVENIA FIRST BIG CLIMB WITH LOADED E-BIKE Loaded up the new e-bike and headed first to Bohinj Lake, then to Kobarid and Bovec in Soca Valley. I’ve ridden this route several times before and usually stayed just one night at each campground. I’m staying 3-4 nights at each campground and doing some of the activities while I’m there: canyoning, rafting and local bike rides. I use to jump start my bike touring by using the train. The e-bike has allowed me to leave Ljubljana at the start of every ride now. My goal is to tour “1 battery charge” for each segment. I w ..read more

JUNE 13 2021 In 2011, I wanted to cycle around Paris, but the bike share system wouldn’t accept my credit card. So, I went to a bike shop and the only bike I could rent was an E-bike, ok? I rode and around Paris in 5 hours and was totally sold on E-bikes. Came home and bought an e-bike kit for an old bike. It changed my life, I ditched my car and the E-bike became my first choice transportation option. Now, 10 years later I decided it was time to buy a real one, not the kit. When I’ve been bike touring here in Slovenia I sometimes jump start a ride, using the train or the bus. Slovenia, being ..read more

By car, you can drive across Slovenia in a couple hours, in either direction. Roughly one hour driving is equivalent to one day of bicycling. The pandemic has complicated the idea of even visiting Slovenia’s border countries. I’ve toured twice around the world by bicycle. I love international travel, but now even exploring my own country of Slovenia is somewhat difficult. Combing the train, buses or Prevoz with your bicycle can give get a jump on your tour. The many villages, campgrounds, nature, museums, restaurants of Slovenia can be explored up close with a bicycle. VELENJE LAKESIDE CAMPGR ..read more

THIS IS A RESULT OF USING GOOGLE MAPS “WALKING ROUTE”, THE GOOD PART? NO CARS! BREZICE It was only 40 km ride to Brezice from Olimje, via the main road. To avoid the busy roads I sometimes use the google maps option for walking. I turned the 40 km’s into a 65 km odyssey. There’s a storm heading my way, so I opt for the Youth Hostel MC. It was so clean, that the Swiss would be jealous. There’s a great little coffee shop & pub on the premises too! Brežice I love nature, but I also love the culture of the city too. Brežice has lots of opportunity to explore within the city and great bike ride ..read more
