My husband works at a store where we get a certain amount of groceries for free each month. We end up with lots of eggs (and variety! Chicken, duck, goose are all in my fridge right now!), greens, onions, some small amounts of really nice weird looking mushrooms (that's how I know they're nice lol), red meat (pork, lamb, beef), beans, corn meal, flour, honey, raw milk, cheddar and feta, and micro greens.
I'm not a huge fan of micro greens but I like free food soo lemme know how you eat them!
Some times the produce changes as the seasons go by but we are really trying to stick to meals with ju ..read more

I’m curious what everyone’s budget and/or average is per week for one person. Mine is around $40 per week and I’m from the DMV area.

When my son was young, I joined a buying group that bought from a health food wholesaler. It was an important group since my son was diagnosed as celiac at a time when gluten-free products were scarce and VERY expensive. The group disbanded years ago.
When I see bulk products on sale (currently 55 pounds Jasmine rice on sale for $29.99 and 40 pounds of fresh jalapeno peppers for $19.99) I wish I had someone to split the cost and food with. I skip the deals because I just can't use that much of a single food item, even if I preserve it for long term storage.
I'd like to start a small local buy ..read more

I made some type of curry with really cheap ingredients I would say it could feed a minimum of 4 people so 4 servings I bought £1 chicken drumsticks about 6 in a pack 2 cans of tomatoes 35p each 2 yogurts about 40p each Chicken stock £1 have A LOT of cubes left over Onions (also left over) £1 Rice ofc 50p and a lot left over Then some chillies 57p or 67p I can’t remember As well as some seasonings which I have a lot left over £1
Any suggestions on what to make next or some way to cut the price even more please let me know! Thank you ?

I used to be the ultimate procrastinator when it came to meal prep, but I finally got my act together and started setting aside two hours every weekend to get it done. Let me tell you, it's been a game-changer! Not only does it save me a ton of time during the week, but it also helps me stick to healthier eating habits and saves me a boatload of cash. I usually whip up a big batch of grains, roast some veggies, and grill some chicken or tofu for protein. Plus, I get to experiment with new recipes and flavors, which keeps things interesting. Trust me, once you start meal prepping, you'll wonde ..read more
