WEATHER UPDATE: SATURDAY 3-30-2024
San Diego Weather Center
by
2w ago
The first round of heavy rain is moving through the area as I type this update at 10 AM. The core of the storm system is settling into the area, so we will continue to see periods of showers and isolated downpours through Sunday evening.  The atmosphere is unstable, so isolated thunderstorms will develop. The strongest ones will have some small hail. Snow levels will range from 5,000 to 6,000 feet, so the highest peaks will get several inches of snow accumulations. I've included the updated rain and snow computer projections ..read more

Our next storm system is spinning off the coast of the Pacific Northwest. A reinforcing shot of energy will migrate out of the Gulf Of Alaska and deepen the system and push it southward into our area. Showers will arrive by late Saturday evening, then periods of heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms will be possible Saturday night into Saturday morning. Intermittent showers and isolated downpours will then linger Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon. Rain totals will range from 2 to 4". Snow levels will remain fairly high, though the tallest mountains will see a wintry mix with some lig ..read more

NEXT RAIN CHANCE SAN DIEGO: UPDATED WEDNESDAY 3-13-2024
San Diego Weather Center
by
1M ago
A small storm system is currently in Northern Idaho - seen as a slight swirl in the satellite loop below. That system will dive southward and hover around our area in the coming days.  Isolated afternoon/evening showers will develop each day from Friday through Monday. The best chance for these will be in the mountains (40%), though a stray shower could try to sneak into the inland and coastal areas (20% or less). Snow levels will remain fairly high, with the highest peaks seeing a brief wintry mix. I've posted the 4-day rainfall projections below. I'm also keeping an eye on potentially a ..read more

A small but potent storm system is approaching our area. You can spot it right off the coastline in the satellite loop below. Showers and isolated thunderstorms will arrive between 4-6 PM. Showers and isolated thunderstorms/downpours will persist through tonight. Some small hail could accompany the strongest thunderstorms. Showers should diminish early Thursday morning. An isolated shower could pop up throughout Thursday as a weak system passes overhead, though the best chances for this will be in the mountains (20%). Snow levels will start at 6,000-7,000 feet this afternoon. Levels will then ..read more

NEXT RAIN CHANCE SAN DIEGO: UPDATED SATURDAY 2-24-2024
San Diego Weather Center
by
1M ago
A storm system is right off the coast of California (seen in the satellite loop below). It's weak and cut off from the main flow of the upper atmosphere. It will continue to bring clouds into our area for the rest of the weekend, with a few peeks of sunshine. Another system will dive southward and pull that storm our way on Monday and Tuesday. A few showers will be possible, though it won't amount to much rainfall. I've posted the projections below. Snow levels will stay above 6,000 feet, so I'm not expecting snow in our local mountains. Another system will move in for next weekend and bring u ..read more
