NEXT RAIN CHANCE SAN DIEGO: UPDATED WEDNESDAY 3-13-2024
San Diego Weather Center
by
2w ago
A small storm system is currently in Northern Idaho - seen as a slight swirl in the satellite loop below. That system will dive southward and hover around our area in the coming days.  Isolated afternoon/evening showers will develop each day from Friday through Monday. The best chance for these will be in the mountains (40%), though a stray shower could try to sneak into the inland and coastal areas (20% or less). Snow levels will remain fairly high, with the highest peaks seeing a brief wintry mix. I've posted the 4-day rainfall projections below. I'm also keeping an eye on potentially a ..read more

A small but potent storm system is approaching our area. You can spot it right off the coastline in the satellite loop below. Showers and isolated thunderstorms will arrive between 4-6 PM. Showers and isolated thunderstorms/downpours will persist through tonight. Some small hail could accompany the strongest thunderstorms. Showers should diminish early Thursday morning. An isolated shower could pop up throughout Thursday as a weak system passes overhead, though the best chances for this will be in the mountains (20%). Snow levels will start at 6,000-7,000 feet this afternoon. Levels will then ..read more

NEXT RAIN CHANCE SAN DIEGO: UPDATED SATURDAY 2-24-2024

A storm system is right off the coast of California (seen in the satellite loop below). It's weak and cut off from the main flow of the upper atmosphere. It will continue to bring clouds into our area for the rest of the weekend, with a few peeks of sunshine. Another system will dive southward and pull that storm our way on Monday and Tuesday. A few showers will be possible, though it won't amount to much rainfall. I've posted the projections below. Snow levels will stay above 6,000 feet, so I'm not expecting snow in our local mountains. Another system will move in for next weekend and bring u ..read more

NEXT RAIN CHANCE SAN DIEGO: UPDATED TUESDAY 2-13-2024

I'm keeping a close eye out in the Pacific, looking for our next rain chance. It's quite turbulent out there, so it's hard for the computers to get a handle on the long range forecasts.  A small system will miss us to the north in the next couple days. Afterwards, another system will clip the area this weekend and bring a slight chance for a shower or two late Saturday into early Sunday (30%). A third system will then move in early next workweek. This one will be tough to forecast because it will weaken as it approaches. Currently, it appears that it will move in Monday and bring a chance ..read more

The next storm system is on our doorstep and will bring periods of rain and isolated downpours starting tonight and last through Tuesday. Another system will clip the area Wednesday and Thursday, bringing intermittent showers to the area. There is still a slight chance for a lingering isolated shower on Friday, but it's looking like most of the day will be dry. Snow levels will stay around 6,000-7,000 feet Monday and Tuesday. Levels will drop to 5,000-6,000 feet Wednesday and Thursday. I've posted the computer projected rain and snow totals through Friday morning. They show our area getting 3 ..read more
