Mueller’s highly anticipated skate park and pump track, as well as the entirety of the Southwest Greenway, opens to all on August 11!  Sitting on the corner of Zach Scott Street and Manor Road, the brand new skate park welcomes skateboards, inline skates, and bmx bikes., and features restrooms and a water fountain for park-goers.  The Southwest Greenway adds an extra 1 mile to the existing hike-and-bike trail, and meanders past trees, picnic benches, the pre-existing bird pond, and a large grassy field. Austin’s new Northeast middle school, located in the Mueller neighborhood, receives a new name: Dr. General Garwood Marshall Middle School.  The late Dr. Marshall was “a prominent member of Austin’s Black community and a former professor of mathematics at Huston-Tillotson University.” (Drabicky)  Dr. Marshall continued to teach mathematics and mentor students post-retirement, leaving a legacy of community love and service.
