Building my first rc plane (tips and guidance)

Me and my friends wanna build an rc plane and fly it this summer. I have experience with rc cars and a bit with drones. They want to build an F22 Raptor style plane. We are thinking of buying a 70mm 80A 2600kV EDF with 1800g of force (is it force, or what is it in english?). Is that EDF overkill for a 1500g plane at max? Or is it ok? Are there any good guides online or do you have any tips for our build? submitted by /u/Bicrome [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Are 90€ beginner planes worth it (for a grown up)?

I'm planning to buy my first RC plane. Looking for a FMS PA-18 130cm Trainer with Flysky FSi6X + FS-IA10B + 2x 2200MaH 3S Zeee batterys. Costs me around 343€ / 366$, with Reflex and the transmitter is also ready for simulator use. So, I think a good starting point. Only thing what makes hesitate: The price is OK – but I would not buy another one when I destroy this thing on first flight. Also, the spare parts are ridiculous expensive (for foam) and often not available. (fuselage 100€+, wings 90€+) Everyone says “start cheap”, so a HOBBYZONE DUET S 2 could be a cheap option. I could fly this w ..read more

hello, I need to make a cargo aircraft to carry approximately 8.8 LBS or 4KG, the aircraft must be affordable to construct, I will be controlling it via a flysky FSi6 6 channel radio modified for longer range operations. The aircraft must be able fly for 35.8 miles (includes flight back to takeoff point) it will be using a Lipo Battery and brushless motors, speed is not as important, I have all electronics and etc signaling blocked handled. Also aircraft wraps COLORS you guys recommend to keep it as invisible as possible, I will be using it at night time, so Im thinking a low reflectance all ..read more

So i asked here a bit ago if a pa-18 from fms could fly in a 2.5 acre space, and the answers i got were yes but it would be limited. Im looking into a carbon cub as an option to buy for the same amount of small space. (small space relative to the plane i mean) submitted by /u/Hot-Concern-4873 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
