Need Help with Diaso Emulsion Application Issue

Hey, I’ve hit a snag with applying my two-component emulsion onto a sieve. Here’s my method: I touch the scoop to the surface and then lift it upwards to draw the emulsion into the mesh. However, I’m encountering an issue. When I execute this process slowly, a significant portion of the emulsion remains at the bottom. Then, midway through, it starts to "break up," resulting in an uneven, jagged application. On the other hand, when I attempt to apply it faster, the emulsion doesn’t have enough time to flow down evenly. I’ve experimented with adjusting the speed, but it hasn’t resolved the issu ..read more

I have searched this online and specific to the group without finding an answer quite yet. I am getting black fabric with a white screen printed design, with the goal of being able to color/draw on top of the white graphic. Options: sharpies, fabric paint, alcohol markers, paint markers, machine washable shoe markers, etc…. Has anyone done this or similar? Any specific advice or best practices when placing my order or coloring over the graphic? Thank You! submitted by /u/anniemiss [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Just looking for some recommendations for conveyor dryers. Using Green Galaxy water-based ink, and our Riley Hopkins Riley Cure table top isn’t cutting it. Not only do we have to put in shirts twice to ensure full cure, but it’s also a VERY narrow tunnel. Any recommendations? submitted by /u/MyFatFetus [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Has anyone used this press before?

I came across this single head press that looks pretty good. It reminds me of those line table presses that they use in Indonesia and thailand by how you can remove the clamps while screen is still clamped on when you go for your second third fourth and so on, color. Basically all you gotta do is buy more of the detachable clamp arms depending on how many colors you’d want to print. So my question is, has anyone used this press so far? Does your registrations stays accurate and tightly clamped down whenever you’re detaching the whole clamp arm to switch to your other colors? There’s a vi ..read more

Anyone else work in a literal sweatshop?

We have 5 M&R Dryers (with no proper venting out of the building, literally all the heat just goes up into the ceiling) and 7 M&R presses with each atleast 2 flashes. All this gets the shop well over 100F through the summer and onto late October; you can only imagine on humid days. It's been like this for over a decade and all the owners have provided is swamp coolers, Gatorade, and those wet towel things. Over the years this screenprinting company has bought over 5 different store fronts, but hey screw the production shop that MAKES your multi-million dollar company viable. Let's jus ..read more

Recommendations for *relatively* affordable large format printers

Hello! Transitioning from continuing ed screenprinting classes to an in-home DIY situation and I'm currently pondering the best method for printing out films for exposure. Happy to tile 8x11s for a while, but eventually I'd like a printer that can do 18x24 sizes. Any recommendations for a suitable home-use large format printer that isn't $3000? Specifically I've been looking at the HP T210. Seems to be a promising option but I don't know if it prints adqequate detail. Any past experiences with this model or competing models at a similar price point would be appreciated. submitted by /u/youkn ..read more

So to preface this, I only do a handful(i’m talking like 3-4) screens in an entire year. I typically work at my university print shop but it’s closed over the summer. I usually only screenprint shirts to sell at markets over the weekend and even then I only do big batches 2ish times a year. Someone on fb marketplace is selling a small uv exposure unit and all the chemicals that come with it. I think it’s pretty much all ecotex brand. it also comes with squeegees, ink, shirts, and emulsion scoops. overall it’s a very good deal, and they just want it gone. my question is, is it safe to have an ..read more

So I made a post a while back explaining I was having issues trying to get my exposure right, a lot of people gave me some really helpful advice. My main problem I feel was my emulsion was out of date (which I didn't know was a thing) and that my room was too humid. So when letting my screens set I stuck a fan in with them to try and help keep them dry and cool. I gave another test ago and it didn't work properly but I had gotten closer. I've bitten the bullet and bought a 100w UV lamp I'll be doing another test today. Just so I have a rough ball park, at 35cm what would recommend would ..read more

Best screen below design

Hi, I’m trying to get this design onto shipping boxes and was wondering which screen would be best? Images for reference. Method I’m using is to cut design out on temporary vinyl and then use it as a stencil. The results are not bad in my opinion however they could be much better and I think it’s because I used the wrong screen. I’m Uk based so any supplier recommendations would also be hugely appreciated. :) submitted by /u/siddraaaaa [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
