Tore my bicep tendon and had surgery on Feb. 7th. Watching my gym from a far is so hard. Haven’t visited in some time. I feel like my peers are surpassing me in skill and my inner competitor is dying inside. What do I do to keep my skills sharp?

Hi everyone! Been doing muay thai for about 5 months now and really enjoying it, but there is one thing that is severely impacting my ability to get better. Basically, I have a lot of trouble with recovery, which means I can usually only do one session a week, whereas I'd like to be able to do two. My cardio also kind of plateaus because I can't do it too many days a week, which is super frustrating. I'll try giving as many details as I can, but I would love to know a) how normal an experience it is (people at my gym seem to have no issue going 3-4 days in a row, but maybe they're just super ..read more

Hi, I've fought one junior k1 fight before with 3, 1 min 30 rounds. I've just got offerd a second fight with 3, 2 minute rounds. I was wondering how much of a difference I will feel, I'm asthmatic but have decent enough cardio to hit 5 3's on pads regularly. Also any tips for first time doing headshots in a fight?

Hello Reddit!
I'm thinking of going to Thailand to train and potentially fight in a couple of months.
I'm really tall for a woman (close to 1,80m / 5'10) and I'm not skinny either. All the girls and women I've talked to about their experiences were way smaller than me.
If I choose to fight over there I know to expect to only fight other foreigners but my question is more about being treated differently in the gym and during training, as well as "bodyshaming" (not that I'm fat I'm just pretty heavy, good bit of muscle, some body fat).
Can anyone please share their experiences, I'm really nervo ..read more

I would love to know what the quality of their grappling is and how their Muay Thai compares to pure Muay Thai gyms.
Also if you know if they have many good pro fighters? Or if it is very beginner orientated.

Hi all, my coach has been training me in orthodox for a while, helping me build countering muscle memory and strong defence. The problem is that I find that I’m a stronger fighter in southpaw during sparring as my left kick and lead teep often lands hard and cleaner, while my boxing isn’t as great since I have to mirror everything I learn from him + build that memory all over again.
Would it just be worth it to stick to orthodox and get rid of trying to mirror everything in southpaw even though my sparring performance is much better in southpaw?
EDIT: I train almost exclusively in southpaw on ..read more

After having asked you guys about your favourite Muay Thai docs a couple weeks ago, first of all I feel like there aren’t that many… secondly what would be something you would want to see explored more in depth in docs or movies that focus on Muay Thai? Or something that you are sick of seeing and hearing about?

What do you wear under your Muay Thai shorts? I’m very self conscious about flashing anybody. It’s so hot in Thailand right now and I’m having a hard time training with leggings and a t shirt. I’m not a skinny person and I can’t find regular working out shorts that fit me either.

I finally got my heavy bag rehung in my basement, the problem is when i use socks i slip. so i’m gonna try to go barefoot. the problem is i have a concrete floor. i work at lowe’s (home improvement store for those who live in other countries), so i could always pick up flooring padding (i work in flooring so that’s also a bonus). but i used to work at a trampoline park as a teenager so i had to wear socks with grip. do you think i could wear them while training or do you think it would be dangerous because of the potential fact i could hurt my knee from the turning of my hips if my foot gets ..read more
