Cooked meatballs taste raw

I cooked beef meatballs a second time now and they just taste raw on the inside while being 200% cooked. I didn't use any breadcrumbs or eggs, just minced beef + random spices, fried them on the outside for a bit, filled the pot with tomato sauce and cooked it for 40-60 minutes on low heat (sorry for any good cooks here that can find that terrific). They were DEFINITELY fully cooked, no chance. I just want to know if thats me doing something wrong, some specific spices that make it taste that way or maybe I'm just very unlucky with freshness of meat (i'm almost sure it was fresh though) subm ..read more

How do I store cream cheese stuffed soft pretzels?

I made cream cheese stuffed soft pretzels earlier and now have them in an airtight container. I’m not sure how to store them. Normally I can just leave it on the table but since I put cream cheese inside, I’m wondering if I need to refrigerate them to prevent the cream cheese from becoming moldy inside. Sorry if flair is wrong, I’m not sure which flair is right. If it’s wrong, I will change it submitted by /u/monatomone [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Cheesecloth recommendations

I used a cheesecloth from Kroger to make apple cider. And it disintegrated. It was very long length-wise, but not big enough to cover the pot I was using so I criss-crossed it. All it did was burst at the bottom, and in the haste of trying not to drop all my apples into the strained cider, they fell in the sink. Did I use it wrong, or was I wrong for buying a $4 cheesecloth? I thought they were reusable, but this wasn't even usable. I think it was my fault though. submitted by /u/CleetusnDarlene [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hello, has anyone tried the frozen dinners from zatarans, the blackened chicken Alfredo? If anyone has, and can possibly tell me what makes their Alfredo sauce taste the way it does, you'd be a blessing. Any tips would be good though, if anyone can spare. Thanks for the time. submitted by /u/cheesemonger-_- [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I just got a Cuisinart set of stainless steel pots and pans and used the stock pot for the first time today to make some pasta. After the one use, the bottom of the inside of the pan looks like this. What is this and is there a good way to clean this off? submitted by /u/SilencedPride [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Made Japanese Curry from Roux Cubes frozen portions separated after freezing, is it possible to fix?

I followed the cooking instructions on the box of Torukeru (S&B) box and made a pretty awesome batch of Japanese style curry. I live by myself and ended up with a decent amount so I packed leftovers into the rectangular takeout containers and froze. Flavor is fine but texture is a bit off after defrosting; like there is pooling water after removing a portion for reheating in the microwave. Is there a way to restore the texture? I was wondering if reheating it on the stove might help. submitted by /u/Brotilla [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Rice has a strange sweet smell

Hi, so I’ve been making rice in my zojirushi rice cooker and on the stovetop but no matter which one I use the rice has a strange sweet smell to it. The smell goes away when the rice cools down and it tastes fine but it smells again after I heat it up. It’s hard to describe the smell but it’s off-putting and it reminds me of plastic a bit. I’ve tried using a different rice bag, changing my water source (tap vs bottled), and the cooking method (rice cooker vs stovetop) but the smell is always there. I’m not sure if the rice is safe to eat since it taste and looks fine but the smell is weird an ..read more

Making home made Dango.

I am making Mitarashi Dango. The recipe called for Jyoshinko : Shiratamako = 2:1 Jyoshinko 112 g /4.0 oz Shiratamako 56 g /2.0 oz Hot water 96 cc /3.2 fl oz Water 48 cc /1.6 fl oz Might have bought the wrong ingredients but I have Dangoko, and jyoshinko flour. Not sure if Dangoko is the same as Shiratamako? The bags say sweet rice flower and rice flour, the Gishi brand. Confused on the types of rice flower. Any help is greatly appreciated, these dangos will be made for a Japanese friend. So I am trying to make it as home made as possible. submitted by /u/PalpitationBulky7500 [visit reddit ..read more
