National Championships – black belt Gi National Champion In our last blog post, the team was preparing for the Gi National Championships. As always, all the team did themselves and their club proud. Wins or losses, it was great to see everyone perform so well under in a high-pressure environment. This was the first time I’d competed for a while and it was also my first time competing as Black Belt. After taking gold in various competitions domestically and internationally I was ..read more

Following Derrick Hodgson’s fantastic introduction into this series, which follows the personal training stories of Bucklands Beach BJJ students, we have two more stories to share with you today. Enjoy! #1 Malcolm Taylor’s entry into BJJ, from beginner to blue belt I met Andy at his daughter’s BJJ birthday party two years ago. Hey Auckland, We’ve got some exciting news for you, to kick off our June club updates! Promotions We were proud to have been to able to award some new belt promotions to our hard-working students. Firstly, there is only going to be a handful of times when we are able to award several belts simultaneously as everyone has their own progression rate and normally started training at varied times. However due to several members all starting at a very similar time, we had the pleasure of awarding four blue belts and a purple belt! Even more gratifying was the fact that most of the new blue belts ..read more
