None of the Arkansas roster was alive the last time the Hogs won two NCAA Tournament games, but the Razorbacks ushered in a new era on Saturday night as Arkansas defeated TCU 3-1 to send the Hogs to their first Sweet 16 since 1998.
Four Razorbacks had double-doubles on the night in Taylor Head, Maggie Cartwright, Jill Gillen and Hannah Hogue. Head led the team with 18 kills, and Cartwright came just behind with 16 and a .350 hitting percentage.

BOSTON – Racing in the first seeded section of the 5,000m on Saturday evening at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at Boston University, Kirami Yego registered a time of 13 minutes, 24.36 seconds, the second fastest time ever by a Razorback, as he missed the Arkansas school record by 0.04 of a second.
Ben Shearer, racing in a separate section of the 5,000m, moved to No. 5 on the UA all-time list with a 13:36.86 effort.

FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas women’s basketball (7-1) is set for another tough test, as the Hogs host No. 2 UCLA (6-0) on Sunday afternoon. Coming off the team’s first ranked win of the season, the Hogs will now look to match the highest ranked win in program history and best since 2003, as Arkansas and the Bruins tipoff at 2 p.m. on SECN+. The game will serve as a Red Out, as the first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a free t-shirt and poms.

The Hogs not only played their first NCAA Tournament match at Barnhill Arena in 17 years on Friday, but also got their first-ever NCAA Tournament win on home court in 25 years as Arkansas made quick work of Stephen F. Austin with a 3-0 sweep.
The Hogs have now swept their opening NCAA Tournament matches in consecutive seasons, and it’s one of only four NCAA sweeps at Barnhill Arena in the program’s 30 seasons.

ORLANDO – Razorback freshman Shawnti Jackson will receive the 2023 USATF Youth Athlete of the Year on Saturday evening during the Night of Legends function held at the USATF annual meeting.
Other award recipients on the night include Sha’Carri Richardson (Jackie Joyner-Kersee Female Athlete of the Year), Noah Lyles (Jesse Owens Male Athlete of the Year), and Dennis Mitchell (Nike Coach of the Year).
