I earned my blue belt tonight, but don't feel deserving. There are several striped white belts in the gym, who train daily and take me to task class after class, who are way more deserving than me. I can't help but feel like I'm filling some type of quota for the gym, or that it's some type of carrot to keep me paying the bill. I've trained for 3 years pretty consistently and still can't retain guard or attack successfully. submitted by /u/DeLorasaur [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Should I get my black belt under my old professor?

For context: I was at my previous academy for years, and the years prior to that, under the same association. I moved out of state for a job recently, and they are under a different association. I like where I'm at, and have no plans of moving, and I am still close with my old professor and teammates. I received my brown belt not long after training at my new academy, but otherwise, most of my time training and game was developed under my previous professor. It would be more sentimental to me to keep my lineage under my previous professor. This is a ways off, but a question I've been contempl ..read more
