After going through language therapy with both of my boys I have learned a thing or two about meeting speech therapy expressive language goals. As a Kindergarten teacher I have picked up on a few activities that help support goals for expressive language skills. I have found it beneficial to work on both areas of language expressive and receptive to strengthen language development for early childhood.

Two of my favorite classroom activities are sensory bins and task boxes. So instead of using worksheets for kindergarten science I decided to create task boxes all about life science for our life science study. This past year with all of the Covid restrictions and needing supplies for individual children I decided to make individual sensory bins for the children to use to study the topics of life science. The end of the school year is a very special time in Kindergarten. We celebrate growing up from dependency to independence. We have worked so hard to learn all there is to know about our ABC’s and 123’s. We’ve made friends, followed directions, played and become independent learners. Our lives have changed for the better and we want to document it!

Whether you are in person, virtual, or a combination of both we are in a state of crisis in education. Teachers are stressed, working harder and longer than ever and are expected to perform like normal under near impossible restrictions. I HEAR YOU, I SEE YOU, I FEEL YOU!
