The spring really comes to Finland on Friday evening when the 2024 Finnish Relay League kicks off in the southwestern corner of the country. Kevätyönviesti is the first of seven rounds of the league in 2024, where Tampereen Pyrintö are defending champions in both women’s and men’s classes from last year. Athlete Representatives to the IOF Athletes’ Advisory Groups for the new two-year term 2024-2026 has been elected by the athletes for all four disciplines. See the election results here. Following consultation with the Member Federations and IOF Athlete Representatives, the IOF Council has unanimously approved to open up for independent athlete participation in World Ranking Events through IIA status for eligible athletes. The approved scope for IIA status will come into effect on 1 July 2024. One of the IOF’s 3 guiding values is “Inclusive”. This weekend, IOF TV invites you to come along to some of the first European FootO-races of 2024, with broadcasts from Swedish League, Swedish Relay League and the French Championships in Sprint Relay. The Orienteering World Cup will enter a new era from 2025 with a new organising setup behind the premiere series of global elite orienteering competitions. The IOF will manage and develop the event with strong support from Verein Swiss Cup, part of the current World Cup consortium, Svensk Orientering Events AB and the Czech Orienteering Federation. Applications are now open for the annual O-Ringen Academy, which takes place in southern Sweden from July 19th – 28th, 2024 in conjunction with the world’s greatest orienteering event O-Ringen.
