Treatments to help these babies are limited. Therapeutic hypothermia is the only option used to prevent brain damage in such cases, but 29% of babies who receive it still develop significant neurological sequelae.
The first phase of a new clinical study conducted at the Montreal Children’s Hospital (MCH) shows that the administration of sildenafil could be a possible solution.

Is it finally time to stop worrying about COVID? The latest from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention might leave that impression with some.
The CDC updated its COVID-19 isolation policy earlier in March, bringing it in line with recommendations for other respiratory viruses, the flu, and RSV. When the lunch bell rings at the Sancta Maria primary school in the Belgian city of Leuven, standard packed meals aren’t on the menu for dozens of hungry children.
Instead, the pupils receive freshly prepared, hot organic vegetarian fare delivered daily to the school canteen. The meals come by bicycle from nearby, purpose-built kitchens belonging to “Foodatelier César” – a service set up by a parent keen to promote healthy diets.
