So I’ve been wanting to stop sugar for a while but everyday I’ve been failing. Even though I do those hacks where I have a savory breakfast and vinegar… I still went ahead and ate a bunch of Cinnabon rolls after craving something sweet for hours. I decided that I should just start from now even if I’ve already failed from the beginning of the day. I’m writing/ documenting so that there’s no turning back, hopefully.

Hi all,
For some context - I only quit added sugars 8 days ago. I would previously eat sugary treats compulsively and couldn't stop. I decided I needed to give it up for a bit, at least.
My sugar-free stint was going well and I was feeling better and more clear-headed. As I'd done 7 days, and today I was meeting a friend for coffee, I decided I'd have a brownie to see how it made me feel. All good - I didn't want to eat it as quickly as usual and actually found it almost too sweet. Anyway, fast forward to an hour later when I was on my way home, and I had a sudden and intense panic attack. I ..read more

It’s time to finally reclaim my life from these short fixed dopamine addictions. My life is my own and I own it by my autonomy to choose my actions and I do not want to indulge in this. It harms me in so many ways. I will not. I shall not.

I have a really bad sugar addiction, especially Dairy Queen. I know it's starting to affect my health, but I've always had a sugar addiction since teenage years. Now I get terrible brain fog, dizziness, and moody without it. Also my thyroid has taken a hit. Any advice?

Hey all, so I got back on the wagon, and I successfully had 2 days of being SaAS free!! (sugar andadded sweeteners; I'm using the acronym from now on.) The 3rd day is crucial. If I can make it through this day, then I always kind of get to a different place with SaAS. There's no way the cravings are gone-- I'm an addict. But it's like I can see that it's POSSIBLE to be free of SaAS addiction. So please hold some good thoughts for me to make it through today without SaAS!! :)

For years I had been addicted to sugar not realizing the effect it was having on my body and brain. When I was a kid I would always have excessive amounts of dessert after dinner, usually around 4 scoops of ice cream every night. I started realizing the effect that sugar had on me and the energy bursts that I would get.
I started craving this more and more until eventually I would start eating sugar after lunch to get that energy boost that I craved. I came to realize recently that I was fully training my brain to rely on sugar to get through the day. At first it was great and the high from t ..read more

I made it 1.5 weeks of no added sugars and have felt great. I had a candy bar yesterday after a friend shared it with me. (We were celebrating) I had the thought….this is what it should be like, sweets on special occasions, not daily with every meal. I’ve felt so much more clear on my day to day life, less brain fog, not thinking about food constantly or candy to eat. I thought the candy bar would trigger cravings, but it hasn’t. It wasn’t even that good and I love these things.
I’ve loved reading posts here for support. If you are on the fence about trying this lifestyle, do it.
