The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has made it mandatory for licensed banks and licensed financial companies to maintain an unique identification number for customers when opening deposit accounts. Two new police divisions named Matara Crime Division (MCD) and Galle Crime Division (GCD) have been set up in the Southern Province.
