You may have sat through a 30-60+ minute exposition dump and thought "this is really boring", certainly not the experience you were looking for. This includes both cutscenes and those in game moments where you are forced to walk slow and listen before your freedom is returned. Well I'm playing Final fantasy 8 right now, and I was hit with a long exposition dump (still only around 5 minutes), but it was awesome. Hello community, I am looking for a JRPG with a good story, and modernish. I do not typically play JRPGs, and I do not quite think there is an easy to spot rhyme or reason as to why I like some over others besides the fact that the story matters. The JRPGs I have liked are Final Fantasy 8 and 9. I first played Trails from the Sky FC (first chapter) years ago, can't remember exactly when. Didn't finish it. I later played roughly the same amount of that game again (~18 hours), didn't get any further. I also played 50+ hours of Trails of Cold Steel 1. Got pretty far, didn't finish it. It's also my least favorite of the games I'm talking about here. Maybe a year ago or so, I started Trails to Zero, of the so called Crossbell arc. Why aren’t we talking about this? I think it’s pretty insane. Was soooo hyped for this game. And yeah, I know IGN is somewhat unreliable, but they did gave a 6/10 to Forspoken, and after forcing myself to finish it, I completely agree with their review. Game is just bad. But Sand Land? I want to make an entire List of great pure evil and irredeemable villains that prove that not every villain needs to be a super tragic and sympathetic Anti-hero to be a good villain. A pure evil and irredeemable villain is a villain without a tragic backstory, no sympathetic traits, no good intentions, and no redeeming character qualities.
