In its first year as re-formatted championship, The Women’s and Men’s Senior Home Internationals trophy was won by our very own Scottish Seniors, with a score of 3/3. Men’s and Women’s Seniors were played in parallel this year at Pyle & Kenfig, in a change to the established format. On hearing the sad news of the death of Her Majesty the Queen, Scottish Golf extends its warmest sympathies to her family. The Queen was a patron of, among others, the Royal and Ancient Club of St Andrews. She granted Royal status to Royal Troon Golf Club in 1978 – an enormously prestigious appellation, which would normally result in Royal patronage. North East District Team advance to victory in Men’s Area Team Championship Finals

Teams from North East, Perth & Kinross, Ayrshire and Borders met at Powfoot Golf Club to battle it out for the Championship this weekend.  Saturday 3 September saw North East face Borders while Perth & Kinross challenged Ayrshire. Borders got off to a flying start in the Teams matchplay, with Alan Turnbull and Mike Foley (both from Peebles) going 1 Up on Neil Mitchel (Bon Accord) and Gary Esson (Portlethen). Conditions couldn’t have been more favourable at the second Scottish Golf Medals Grand Final at Royal Burgess on Sunday 21 August. 71 Scottish club golfers will be competing at the Scottish Medal Finals Grand Final at Royal Burgess in Edinburgh this Sunday. The male and female finalists have already made it through their club qualifier and one of the regional qualifiers held across Scotland in 2022 to reach this stage and will now be competing to be crowned national champion. With more than 150 young golfers competing, there were exciting finishes to the Scottish Boys’ Under 14 Open and Scottish Girls’ Under 16/ Under 14 Open as the winners were crowned in near perfect conditions. Three young Scottish golfers were last week given a fantastic opportunity to tee it up in the Pro-Am at the Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open on Wednesday, getting to play with Scottish professional Gemma Dryburgh. 15-year-old Grace Crawford, 17-year-old Freya Constable and 21-year-old Lorna McClymont were the lucky recipients of three spots in the Pro-Am, thanks to an invite from The Scottish Government via VisitScotland.
