A week after the Texas Longhorns lost out on former TCU Horned Frogs defensive tackle Damonic Williams to the Oklahoma Sooners, head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff used that decision to their advantage, flipping former Louisville Cardinals defensive tackle Jermayne Lole from the Sooners.

As the Texas Longhorns prepare for their departure from the conference, the Big 12 has named Texas softball catcher Reese Atwood as this year’s league “Player of the Year.” Atwood, a sophomore, also set the single-season Texas records for home runs, with 21 big at bats this year, and RBIs, with 83, while hitting .433. Since the spring transfer window opened in mid-April, the Texas Longhorns lost nine players to the NCAA transfer portal, including Terrance Brooks, the projected starter at boundary cornerback.
