I popped into the guild the Saturday before Christmas, but hadn't updated on here.  Unfortunately I think the blog is going to be going on hold, but we do have a Facebook page and Instagram that are updated regularly and may be a better option going into the future.  Blogs don't seem to be as popular as they were. So, I'll post photos of what I saw on the table that last weekend, but it won't be a regular thing for a while; I've run out of steam ..read more

Sorry that it's been quiet here, but I've not been going to the guild recently.  The rooms are still running as usual, but since there's a number limit with us being in level 2 I've decided that I'll stay away so that other members who have no-one at home for social interaction can go.  Unfortunately this does mean no photos, but I think it's more important to support the mental health of our members. I have also been distracted from knitting and spinning by sewing so I'll leave you with a photo of one of my makes during this time. This is the Laney Jane bag, unfortunatel ..read more

Well it's been a month of weird weather, but today was once again a day of like minded people enjoying eachother's company.  Not a lot on the show and tell table, but what there was was stunning. A lovely hat by Raylene, displayed on the book it came from. Phillipa knit this incredibly cute wee baby set; buttons to come but it's already cute and so teeny! Dianne C's daughter knit this very bouncy baby blanket, the colour definitely brings Spring to mind. Kerry has been doing double weave and made this fantastic keyhole scarf. And finall ..read more

Another busy day at the guild rooms, lots of creativity and happy chatter.  Next Saturday is our Mid-Winter Christmas lunch.  Bring a plate of food as well as your own cutlery and crockery.  Keep in mind we do have a few people who are gluten free now so if your dish is gluten or dairy free please label it so we keep those people safe. Rose knit this laceweight scarf in an unknown fibre, the yarn is by Debbie Bliss and looks like mohair and so soft and light! The table as it was, much of the yarn and fibre is from purchases the previous Sunday at Mid Winte ..read more

I'll get straight into the show and tell table today, a relatively small offering, but all lovely! Anna spun this merino, apparently it was a second from her dyeing, but you'd never know! Phillipa P has been knitting socks, 1.5 pairs so far! Elena has been busy spinning too, this came from two different Corriedale fleeces. Mandy made this stunning Linnea vest using handspun, I think a few of us may have queued the pattern after seeing this; I certainly did! And aren't these copper buttons just gorgeous ..read more

It was World Wide Knit in Public Day on Saturday and we had our doors open, quite a few people dropped in to see us.  Unfortunately the weather wasn't wonderful so we didn't end up outside; cold hands do not make for good knitting! Jan knit this from yarn dyed at the guild, the colours are gorgeous.  Rachelle (me) finally finished this pair of colourwork socks for her husband, the yarn is Waikiwi by Naturally yarns and is merino/alpaca/possum Phillipa finished this blanket from Valerie's stash, it was a singles yarn held together with some mohair ..read more

The guild rooms were a hive of industry on both days with new members coming in and members who've belonged for longer also there.  The best part is how welcoming everyone is which is part of what makes the guild such a wonderful group. A few dates to keep in mind.  World Wide Knit in Public day is Saturday 12th of June, we'll have the guild open to the public and if it's fine we'll knit outside too. 19th June we're having a talk by Patricia Took Stephens who is a fibre artist 27th June is Woolfeast which is being held at 10.30am till 3.30pm at The Silk Room, Level 2, Metr ..read more

A good busy day with plenty of people coming through the door to take a look around; several new members were in for the session and at least one prospective member popped in too.   Our table was busy too, plenty of finished items to show you. A heads up for next Saturday, we're having a shawl/scarf theme; bring in your favourite shawls/scarves to show off. Phillipa's been busy making stripy socks This is Ria's work, a baby singlet using handspun polwarth (if I remember correctly) and some halfbred/silk handspun in skein form. Phillipa also make this h ..read more

It was a lovely day, we had at least one new member there which was nice and many regulars.  The table had quite a lot on it and I was still there when we found out who'd made what!  There are a few combo-spin's that are finished, looking forward to seeing them when they're made into their final form. Felicity spun this pink combo-spin, she had a theme when she picked her braids. This might be Mandy's blue combo spin Phillipa went for rainbows for her combo-spin Jan F finished her cardigan, it turned out beautifully in the end! Ja ..read more
