While reflecting on the question ‘What can TEDxAmsterdam offer its community in these times?’, it was soon clear that we would have to go online. In doing so, we truly wanted to offer something new and special. Over the next few months, we worked hard on building ..read more

Wouter de Jong: A better world starts in your head
TEDxAmsterdam
by Lindsay
3y ago
We often think that self-care involves eating well and exercising, but actually it all starts in your head. Just like your physical muscles, your mental ones can be trained as well. That’s why bestselling author Wouter de Jong will transform the Beurs van Berlage into a gym for the mind during TEDxAmsterdam. In only twenty minutes, you’ll train your brain to be more resilient – even (or especially) when things aren’t going your way. Instead of being your own worst inner critic, you’ll learn to be your own coach. The outcome: a better world. Because a clear, satisfied mind prefers to care for o ..read more

TEDxAmsterdam
by Albert

We live in a consumer-based society, where nothing ever seems to be enough. We are told that we need to keep buying things, whether that’s to keep the economy going, to satisfy our own fear of missing out or simply because product placement pulls an inception on our brain. But, if we’re being perfectly honest with ourselves, we don’t really need all that stuff. Our lives might actually turn out better after we bin our short-term desires and turn to a clean and minimal lifestyle. It’s the inspiring lesson that interior designer Dennis Storm, a TEDx Amsterdam speaker this year, is trying to teac ..read more
