On today’s episode of Canucks Conversation, David Quadrelli and Harman Dayal were joined by OilersNation’s Tyler Yaremchuk for some pre-game insights from an Oilers fan’s perspective.
Tyler reflected on game 1, acknowledging that despite the Oilers leading 4-1, their performance wasn’t at its best. “When they were up four-one, I was thinking, ‘wow, the Oilers don’t look that good. If they can win this one with this ‘C’ effort and be a little better in game two, they could very easily steal both of these.’ Of course, it all came crashing down, and the Canucks mounted that great comeback. Game one in Vancouver on Wednesday night was what they call on the streets a classic. With Rogers Arena deflated and the Oiler coasting up 4-1, hope was all but lost in Vancouver. A late second-period strike from Elias Lindholm gave the Canucks a bit of life, and that’s all the club needed to get going.
JT Miller, Nikita Zadorov, and Conor Garland all scored in quick succession to cut a 4-2 third-period deficient to a 5-4 Vancouver lead, and it was pandemonium at Rogers Arena and the loudest I have ever heard the building.

Former Vancouver Canucks forward Raffi Torres recently joined the Sekeres and Price show to share his thoughts on Game 2 between the Oilers and Canucks. Torres, who played for both the Edmonton Oilers and the Vancouver Canucks during his NHL career, offered his insights into the upcoming Game 2.
Torres, 43, is currently coaching at the junior level but spent multiple years in the NHL playing for various teams. He is perhaps most widely known for his game-winning goal in Game 1 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Final, in which he scored with 19 seconds remaining on the clock.

In dramatic fashion, the Canucks rallied from a 4-1 deficit to defeat the Oilers 5-4 in the series opener on Wednesday night.
The Canucks appear set to use the same line-up they did in Wednesday’s opener while there is some intrigue around the status of Oilers star Leon Draisaitl.

After five consecutive road playoff games, the Abbotsford Canucks’ were finally back on home soil to protect their 2023-24 season.
Despite a strong start and a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes, their effort crumbled in the second frame when they conceded three quick goals in just 1 minute and 21 seconds.
While they outshot the Ontario Reign (28-23) for the third straight game, they couldn’t find one last goal, ultimately suffering a 4-3 defeat and a clean 3-0 sweep in the series.

The Vancouver Canucks’ victory over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 1 of Round Two of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs was a memorable and dramatic one. It might rightly be called the greatest comeback in franchise history, had not an even greater comeback occurred in the previous round.
What Game 1 was not, however, was a perfect performance. In order to set the table for said dramatic comeback, the Canucks had to nearly lose the game first. And although it’s almost never the case that the blame for a loss (or near-loss) can be laid on the shoulders of one individual player, in this particular case ..read more

Arturs Silovs has faced plenty of adversity in the Stanley Cup Playoffs already. But somehow, he keeps coming out on the winning end.
At the end of the day, that’s the only result that matters to him.
“I think we dominated the second period, and then we didn’t give them anything in the third,” Silovs said after the game. “So now it matters to capitalize, and that’s what’s most important.”
The Canucks exhilarating comeback, from down 4-1 late in the second to a 5-4 victory in Game 1 against the Edmonton Oilers, required a hill to climb first. That hill came in the form of some major mistakes fr ..read more
