The festive season, wonderful as it is, can really take a toll on your skin. As someone who doesn't usually drink, that prosecco on Christmas day has been awful for my skin. Dry flaky patches and a little bit dull looking, not a great look.  When it comes to skincare one of the best quick fixes available is a facemask. The beauty of facemasks is that they can be tailored to what your skin needs at the time. I sometimes like to do a couple of different masks in one day, or target different areas of the skin with different formulas.  Today I have two facemasks to show you that have ..read more

I can't believe how quickly Christmas Eve has come round this year, it has been a total whirlwind and so busy and exciting. I wanted to take a moment to say a big thank you to all of you who, read, comment and interact with this blog, it has been an incredible year and I am so grateful to be able to share all of it with you.  I am signing off until January, when I will be back with plenty of suggestions to make the toughest month of the year that bit more bearable. I had to do a little shot of the Elf, who apparently loves natural beauty too (he clearly stole my Weleda Skinfood!). We ..read more

Budget beauty: Burt's Bees lip product review
Ana goes green...

I often get asked for affordable natural make up recommendations and Burt's Bees is one of my go to brands for accessible products that won't break the bank. The brand is widely available across the US and Europe, I can find these products on the high-street and they also have a nice range of shades and finishes.  *Burt's Bees Satin Lipsticks (£9.99)- Available in eighteen shades and with a moisturising finish, these lipsticks are 100% natural. I have two of the shades, both wearable for everyday and with a lovely creamy feel. The packaging feels very lightweight and is made of 60% recy ..read more

My December Boxwalla box arrived a couple of days ago and I had to go and get it from the sorting office yesterday. I am always really excited to receive these boxes, they are so beautifully put together, with interesting brands and products.  I did a recent post outlining my experience with Boxwalla over the last year (find that here) and it proved really popular, so I thought I would share this box with you as soon at it arrived as I know many of you enjoy seeing the contents. This box is still available as a one time purchase, so I will leave the link to it below. Obviously this wo ..read more

Beatitude Peace Pillow Spray
Ana goes green...

I think most people would agree that the name Peace is perfect for a pillow spray like this one from aromatherapy brand beatitude, after all I think we could all do with an extra dose of peace, especially at this time of year.  The brand is one I have written about several times before, they make gorgeous aromatherapy bath and body, home fragrance and skincare products here in the UK. Peace comes in two different sized bottles and the scent itself lingers, there is nothing worse in my opinion than a fragrance that disappears quickly in a product like a pillow mist. If you are a fan of ..read more

Five lessons blogging taught me about skincare

I have been writing this blog consistently for well over five years now, in that time I have tried hundreds if not thousands of products and whilst I would never consider myself an expert I have definitely learnt some lessons about skincare in that time. I am expecting next year to be a year where I learn a lot more, but I thought it would be interesting to reflect on some of the key things I have learnt so far.  Consistency is key - How many times have you looked in the mirror and wondered why that expensive cream isn't working for you despite the fact that it has mostly been sat in ..read more

The Benefits of Rosehip oil - Featuring Rio Rosa Mosqueta discovery set (sponsored)

**This post is  sponsored by Rio Rosa Mosqueta** Rosehip oil is one of my favourite plant oils for use on my skin. Packed with omega fatty acids and antioxidants, it helps repair, protect and replenish the skin. It's an ingredient that has been used centuries across different civilisations, including by the Egyptians.  Rosehip is also a brilliant choice for sensitive and redness prone skin, unlike essential oils which are the fragrant oils derived from plants, rosehip oil is extracted from the seeds of wild rose bushes and is gentle and nourishing. Rosehip oil is one of the go t ..read more

Holland and Barrett becomes the first retailer to ban microplastics

I have been watching the evolution of natural beauty on the high street for some time and it has become more obvious to me that stores are either wholeheartedly embracing the changes in the consumer tide or lagging behind. Holland and Barrett in my opinion is definitely embracing the changes, whilst the store has always offered a selection of natural beauty products on it's shelves, it's new flagship store in Manchester now boasts the largest natural beauty department in Europe, which is extremely exciting. As well as the in-store offering, featuring some great brands like Beauty Kitchen an ..read more

Now that I have been writing about beauty consistently for over five years, it is always fun to go back and revisit brands I have spoken about previously. In this case the brand Beauty Kitchen which I reviewed shortly after it first launched. Beauty Kitchen have gone from strength to strength in the last few years, securing a presence on the British high-street with their partnership with Holland and Barrett.  The first Beauty Kitchen store was founded in Glasgow by Jo Chidley, a qualified herbal Botanist who wants to get more people using 100% natural beauty products, in her own wor ..read more
