I'm went to Jamaica for 6 days a couple of weeks ago and I am still thinking about sitting on the beach there, staring at turquoise water and sipping fruity rum drinks all day long... Also, the weather is FINALLY warm in Atlanta and that's why I'm FINALLY blogging about my very favorite Rum Punch Recipe! I have to credit my sister, Sarah, for sending me this recipe. For my birthday a couple of years ago, she made me a "drink basket" of ingredients to make the perfect rum punch. The kind you imagine when you think of sitting anywhere tropical and sipping a happy, fruity, rummy drink all day, un ..read more

Living Room Before & Afters!
Flipping Housewife Blog

I am less than 24 hours away from hopping on a plane to Jamaica for 6 days, so I'm squeezing in a quick post before then! (Also, I'm vacation pre-gaming right now with a tall Yeti tumbler full of Rum Punch sitting next to me and I think I'll blog about that tonight before I leave town too! It's such a good fruity rum drink, y'all.) So the only thing I can point out about these living room Before pics is that there was some kind of maybe "bar" in the corner of the room, near the stairwell. Not really sure, but there was a light "installed" (and by "installed, I mean there was cable routed from ..read more

I'm so pumped to finally share this post! The project has been done for, like, ever now and I JUST haven't gotten around to writing about it.... until today! Our main living area is on the 2nd floor (of our 3 story home) which makes projects on this floor super fun, transporting tools and materials up a flight of stairs or up to the backyard, still up a flight of stairs. So, as you'll see in a progress pic below, the dining room became a mini tool/paint/power tool/materials storage area for a really long time. THIS is the reality of live-in flipping, my friends! Dining Room Before: There's no ..read more

Whew! That was the best two-month nap I've ever had! Slept right through December & January y'all. : ) Ok, not really, but I'm not gonna lie, the ability to sleep through winter would be freakin' amazing. I am a warm weather Florida girl through and through and I am total struggle bus from January to mid-March. Not to mention we've had more snow and ice here in Atlanta than I care to see in a 1 month period. Alright, I'm done complaining about winter now. : ) I have super fun remodel projects in the blog pipeline to share with you, but I wanted to do a little different post today since I ..read more

Iiiiiiiiiiii'm dreaming of a whiiiite Christmaaaas... (singing this for you) And since I won't see one in Georgia, I gaze at this cute, snowy winter village vignette everyday instead and imagine little deer hanging out in the snow next to disproportionate houses and evergreen trees. : ) Juuust kidding, these guys are really cute and this vignette is really easy to do! There's not much to explain, but I can at least tell you where I bought each element, so here's the supply list: Elevated apothecary Jar - Michael's Tall & medium size vase (already had) Smaller Jar with lid - Michael's (mi ..read more

The Holiday Season is upon us, friends! (I'm clapping and grinning like a little kid on Christmas morning) : ) I know it's a little premature, being the week before Thanksgiving and all, but I wanted to go ahead and put this post together for all the folks out there who will decorate next week as soon as Thanksgiving leftovers have been put in the fridge! Confession: I. LOVE. CHRISTMAS. TREES. Like, so much. For years now I have wanted to start a Christmas tree decorating business for the selfish, sole purpose of designing trees that wouldn't really go in my own home. (i.e. nautical, beach the ..read more

It's been a minute since my last post because, well, life and Holiday things and social things, etc. and I haven't had time to write a formal post about our completed projects. So today I thought I'd create a quick update on what I've been researching and focusing on here and there in the last few weeks-- Updating the exterior of our house. I'd also love your feedback about my design options below! This is a task we'll undertake within the next 5 or 6 months, so not jumping on this tomorrow or anything, but I definitely like to have a vision for our end goal and I am planner, so... the daydrea ..read more

DIY Dream Shower!

The first time we ever looked at this house, we got a really good laugh out of this bathtub/master bath situation. I mean, I still LOL every time I see this before picture. There are so many things happening here that I have to talk about before I can move on to the renovation details. I'll start with the column-shaped elephant(s) in the room- these pillars. I really wasn't sure exactly what we were working with until I demo'd them, but I discovered that these were straight up cardboard tubes with wood moulding at the bottom and plaster pillar "caps" at the top. The "marbling" detail is a pai ..read more

Flipping Housewife Blog
by Melissa Colstad

If you spend any time looking at home design trends (or have eyes and watch TV or spend any time on the internet) then you know by now that in the interior painting world- GRAY IS THE NEW BEIGE. Yes, gray is the neutral now used in most new construction, designer remodels, etc., and it's glorious. If you're renovating, ESPECIALLY if you're renovating to sell, then you'd better be using gray paint on those walls if you want to attract more buyers come listing time! The trouble with gray paint is that choosing the right shade can be really difficult because gray can go a million different color ..read more
