3-night getaway to Stanthorpe & the Granite Belt

A couple of weeks ago, Mike and I took a short break and explored the area of Stanthorpe and the Granite Belt. We wanted a leisurely few days away seeing some sights, taking in a winery but also having time to chill out. Getting away for short breaks or drives falls nicely into my philiopshy of ‘being an active participant in life’ so off we went. Neither of us had been to Stanthorpe and surrounds before so I was looking forward to discovering the area. I was very surprised at how much there is to see, taste and enjoy so we will definitely be making another trip there. It is a 3 hour drive fr ..read more

Last month I participated in 10 on the 10th hosted by Marsha from Marsha in the Middle. There were a series of 10 questions which I answered and they related in some way to April. If you missed the post you can read it here and perhaps find out some things about me that you didn’t know. It was fun and I determined I would try to participate on a regular basis. May 10 on the 10th May is here and this month it isn’t 10 questions but rather as Marsha explained in her preview post: ‘This month, we are going with ten different things you can and may do. If you’d rather do four of one and ..read more

Celebrating Friendship and a 50th with High Tea

I enjoy the ‘specialness’ of a High Tea – dressing up, dainty delicious food, some bubbles and great company. Last month, we celebrated friendship and a friend’s 50th birthday in style by having High Tea in the Living Room Bar at the W Hotel in Brisbane. It was also lovely to have a day out with my daughter which doesn’t happen often. I highly recommend the High Tea at W Hotel Brisbane. The theme was ‘Ever After’ Inspired by Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art’s latest exhibition, ‘Fairy Tales’. Delectable food, glass of veuve and great company and great service. How did you fare Being an Active Participant in Life Challenge in Week 4? We have almost completed the Being An Active Participant in Life Challenge with only two days remaining but you can ‘choose your own adventure’ for those two days. That isn’t the end though is it? Being An Active Participant in Life is a lifestyle and one I hope we can all maintain going forward. 4 things I learned from the Being an Active Participant in Life Challenge 1. We only get one chance at life! 2. Sometimes you just have to say ‘Yes’ – it can be so easy to ‘retire from life’ and that isn’t healthy. Sure we need ..read more
