Crescent CK1 Venture kayak vs ???

So I thought I found the perfect kayak for me - the Crescent CK1 Venture. It's light enough for me to easily car top(60#) and yet stable enough to fish standing up (34" wide), and Crescent is famous for paddleability, if that's a word. No dealers around Boston, and $250 to deliver. So, what's the best alternative? I'm 6' 215# and fish mostly ponds with some slow rivers and the occasional protected ocean bays. I own a nucanoe frontier 12' which I love, but it is heavy enough where car topping it makes me use it less. What are your recs? submitted by /u/Environmental-Use505 [visit reddit] [com ..read more

Bonafide SS107 Cracked Hull

Found a crack in my ss107. Looks to be a common spot looking at posts on other platforms. This kayak is a 2020 model that I am the second owner on. Unsure if previous owner had setup the warranty after purchase. Seems like there are a couple options. One would be to go to a local dealer and see if they can help. 2nd being call bonafide and see if they can do anything. 3rd being the last option which is plastic welding. Not sure if that would be a longterm fix or now. Has anyone had any luck fixing this? 4 year old kayak. Figured I would raise awareness here as I have seen an uptick in th ..read more

Found a listing for a 13 ft Old Town Predator on marketplace near me for $850 and negotiated the seller down to $500. Just have a couple questions: 1) Is this a good deal? 2) How do people feel about the Old Town Predator 13? I've used the Jackson Cuda for years and want to get some more kayaks for when more people come into town. submitted by /u/Late-Masterpiece4340 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Is Hobie really that good?

I'm fishing out of a Journey 12SS so that's not hard to beat. I am looking to get a new kayak here before summer fully hits and I like the idea of the SS127. I see a lot of posts and videos about going Hobie and never going back. Are they really that good? Have you had both and what makes people die-hard fans? Looking at the PA 12/14 v. SS127, plan on using a trolling motor so the drive isn't a huge factor. Stability for the SS127 I've heard is fantastic (6ft and 175lb). Slight fomo on a Hobie. submitted by /u/SpinachStrange331 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

This Is Probably A Stupid Question But Is There A Difference Between The Rails On Kayaks? Do Yak Attack Accessories Work On All Mainstream Kayaks? If They Do Use Different Rails Does Anyone Know Which Ones Yak Attack Things Work With And Which Rail Type Does "The Big Fish 120 V1" Use? submitted by /u/Fade13_ [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

What’s the better paddle?

Back in 2011 I picked up a Bending Branches Angler, I thought it was carbon but don’t remember and nowhere on it does it say. The other day one of my friends was selling a Cuda 12 for next to nothing so I snagged it, and I needed a paddle and found a deal on an Accent Master Angler. It’s a nice carbon paddle, it’s fit and finish is a hair off, but it is lighter and I like the grips. Have yet to paddle it…. Anyways what say y’all? Going on a trip next weekend and a friend will be using one, I feel like the BB is the nicer paddle but… submitted by /u/BC3613 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

The Weekly Discussion Thread is a place where everyone in the /r/kayakfishing community can come and ask questions or share anything. You might have questions that you don't think deserve an entire post. Perhaps you're just seeking the input of some other anglers. Maybe you want to share a picture of your new gear. Anyone is free to comment, and (hopefully) get as much input as possible from other anglers. submitted by /u/AutoModerator [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
